My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

Ok my math was bad here's version 2.0 from today
I shot this in the wind today reading my wind flags before being chased out by a thunderstorm.
I love this rifle the more I shoot it,also fabed up a front piece on the stock to ride the bag better.

I added you to the successful list. Nice shooting.

Just for my own information since this thread has exploded in popularity and I am still making attempts with each trip to the range; are we now accepting targets that are not full 8.5"x11" sheets or commercially printed targets? I'll switch back to smaller sheets if so, as it saves paper. Thanks!

A 1974 Anschutz 1408 ED Super. (I'm using a new-to-me photo hosting site as Photobucket doesn't seem to be working; I hope the pictures turn out.)

Groups from left to right: .220, .227, .393, .399, .258 inches
Average size: 0.299"
Distance: 57 yards
Ammo: SK Standard Plus
Scope Sightron SIIB 36X

The rifle is missing the front action screw. Perhaps it will shoot better when the screw I ordered comes in.

P.S. for thenerdboy: the cost of paper should not be an important factor in this activity.

Oh man, what a sweet find Glenn! What's that on the end of the barrel, a barrel weight? Very nice result, flirting with that 1/4" club status ;)

Then I should not see any accepted entries with anything less than an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper. ;)

It's easier to setup one sheet with many dots than several sheets with only 5 each. Thinking about target stand real-estate as well. My range is busy and I can't necessarily be running back and fourth regularly to setup/teardown targets. I'm also using quality cardstock as it's easier to measure.

Where does it state in the rules (post #1) that the target must measure 8 1/2" x 11" ?

"...All 5 groups must be on the same paper

There cannot be any other groups on your "official" target

There cannot be anything on your target that could be hiding any group or bullet hole that is not part of your "official" attempt..."

If you read back through this thread, the statement has been made (and entries denied) on the basis that the target must be on a full sheet of paper. Honestly, I can't say that I recall the official size being cited however based on what I've read, cut up sections of paper are not acceptable (see: "hiding any group or bullet hole.")

If this is no longer the case, that is totally fine with me but please know I will take issue if my successful entry is declined.

Not looking to get into a huge debate here - I'm just asking for honest clarification from the man in charge.

The target is printed from PrintTarget.net.
You should print one to see if you have a case but I doubt it.
You are like the man complaining about his sandwich at Tim Hortons because it did not look like the one in the picture.

I really don't understand all the hate here - I am NOT pointing out ANYONE in particular. I am asking a SIMPLE question about the expectations for target size. This has NOTHING to do with grauhanen's entry, whatsoever. In fact, my question was posted BEFORE his entry that you just referenced.

That said, if you had bothered to scroll up a little further on your screen (or maybe had a look at the previous page), you would note that savagecanuck has posted submissions on what looks like cut-up sections of construction paper. I believe that in the past, such entries have been declined, so I'm looking for some clarification. I take no issue with savagecanuck or his targets and would prefer to do the same thing myself BUT I don't want to go through this kind of conversation when someone takes issue with my entry.

So why don't we cut the commentary from the peanut gallery and see what underthegun has to say on the issue?

Why the hate?

Nice shooting. Maybe with that front action screw you will be the first guy in the 1/4" club. I added you to the successful list.

As far as the paper size goes, you are not allowed to cut out the 5 shots in a row that made the challenge. But if you happen to use paper that is cut to size that is fine. Also if it appears that you cut out the 5 good groups and you are showing just a thin strip of paper with your groups on it that likely won't pass. So as far as Savagecanuck's target goes, it appears to have staple holes in all 4 corners indicating that it wasn't cut out from a bigger target. Having said all that, all targets will be judged on a case by case situation.

Very nice shooting there Glenn, I new it wouldn't be long to post up some results.
That wood is awesome on the 1408. I would like to see your group's with center X at 51 yds.

Chinese guy awesome shooting as well, especially with a 7 power scope. You're eyes must hurt.

If you look at post #1114 on this thread you can see a picture of my paper targets individual. I use card stock which is a lot more expensive than copy paper, but makes cleaner more defined holes. I learned this from TomEgun..
