My C8A3 build

Was anybody saying that? We all know the CC rifles are more pimp, the issue is they aren't 1,500$ pimper than a Colt USA. We were upset by the price gouging. Rightly so given the sudden 300$ drop across the board. The new pricing has more swag and the IOP pricing is swagtastic.

Well in fact there were a few CGN'ers that were pushing the idea that the USA COLT was the same as the CDN COLT, even when told otherwise they couldn't or wouldn't believe what is the truth; the CDN COLTS are far superior to there USA counterparts.
I hear you on the price situation though, however these CDN COLTS are worth a significantly higher price then there southern cousins, but I like you agree that $1,000+ was just a little to steep.

Thanks Matt K. for setting the record straight and dis-spelling the myths and letting everyone know in no uncertain terms that our Canadian made Colts are of the highest quality and are some kick-ass Canadian tech. to be proud of.

Exactly.

Standing by to spot green furniture for sale @ ridiculous prices on the EE.

I'll probably put mine up as free to a local pickup or you pay to ship...

I just won't send it to anyone who cryfagged about CC being the same as some Walmart bargain bin gun. :)

Are you still looking for your pics? I found a bunch of photos of my C8 in various configurations from when I was deployed. Most of them are just pictures of us doing our thing, but they'll give you an idea of and good look at what we were using.

Post ‘em if you got ‘em! Never hurts to see some pictures in any thread :)

The accessories strike me as pretty expensive on their own if one were to purchase them separately, no?

There are a number of special accessories.

The Franzen AR security device with Abloy lock usually retails for $35. This one has a Colt Canada logo molded into the body, and would likely retail for more.
The Otis 300 series cleaning kit retails for around $50.
The magazine usually retails for $15-20
The super duper shoot off muzzle cap might go for as much as $1.
The Troy folding iron sight retails for $120 in the US. This one is branded with a Colt Canada logo.

There is also a standard sling and a pretty good manual, not to mention the Diemaco sticker!

I expect some of these items won't be offered after the special editions are gone.

Haha! Good to see a rep with a sense of humour :)

I was wondering about one thing you said in another thread though:

The only differences are:

The semi-auto only parts: disconnect, hammer, selector, lower receiver pocket, and the early commercial AR15 style carrier made to the Colt's drawings from a Canadian MILSPEC carrier. The selector is a Colt commercial semi-auto. The hammer is made from a standard C7/8 hammer, and the trigger and springs (and nearly every other component) is identical.
Deletion of the CF extended cocking handle and ambi-mag release;
Black MILSPEC glass fibre filled furniture, as green is no longer in production;
The police and export sling plate as the CF plate is no longer in production;
M4 MIL-STD-1913 upper and extension to allow for commercial ammunition and non-weaver scopes. Weaver scopes will still fit, but 1913 scopes would not fit on a Weaver upper;
The commercial Diemaco markings.

When you were referring to the lower receiver pocket, will it have the partition like this:

or will it be milled out like this:

Thanks!

Here's a few photos that show what some of us were using. Sometimes it changed from one day to the next depending on what we were doing (sometimes nearly completely stripped down, sometimes the kitchen sink!) There's a pic of the tan furniture that some guys traded the green stuff for in the fall of 08 in theatre, and it was issued kit (some guys just got lucky to be in KAF at the right time to get it). Also a pic with some of the 'Mericans and their kit, I don't think these guys were front line but I can't remember.

We don't use the partition receivers for semi-auto rifles, nor can we use the fully hogged out and auto-sear drilled lower - obviously.

The area at the rear is machined out less where the auto sear would be and no holes drilled.

I'm not in the office or at home, so I don't have one to photograph - sorry. Perhaps someone with a Diemaco will post a pic up for you.
