As you can see I don't know much about Fabarm SG's and the "magic button".

There's no magic button. The spring is compressed when you work the action towards the rear, and then "helps you" take the slide forward again as the spring releases tension.Is it a feature that aids in sliding the foregrip to chamber a round

Personally, I like the looks of the stock slide. Gives the SG a nice semi-auto look.
Nine said:I've seen many a Fabarm pic (2!) with tape of some sort on the receiver. I assumed that this was to protect the finish from the extended forend. (and I was right) You can see were this could potentially be a cosmetic problem at some point somewhere down the road, and THE reason I will be getting a short forend. SO, I knew exactly what I would do to give some added protection, and it turned out better than I had hoped.
