My magpul orders from brownells got put on hold

Boomer686 - A bit earlier in the thread....

CBSA collects taxes owing, plus a fee for processing the package. The processing fee will be $8 or $5, depending on whether the order was travelling priority or not - they charge more for for clearing a priority order.
Brownells will charge for USPS Priority air shipping, plus an export fee for preparing the SED paperwork.
Some US manufacturers are not registered with the US DOS for export. If they are not registered, Brownells cannot export any of their products. If you ask Brownells export department, they will email you the current list of registered manufacturers. Many of the goods in Brownells catalogue are exportable, many are not, because of this.
If you want to place a higher value order, or order controlled goods, subject to an export permit, Brownells will work with you. Many other US businesses will not.
I place "split" orders back to back. I use a fax, and give the orders separate PO numbers. I run the value of gun parts as close to the limit as I can, then add any other items I need.

After speaking to the people at Brownells, it is not the order that has to be less the $100 it is total amount of firearms parts. If you try to pull a fast one and make two separate orders, totaling over $100 worth of gun parts in each and both orders are placed in close proximity to each other, the may catch you.

Also if a manufacturer isn't registered as an exporter with the state department you will be unable to get the item (example: Falcon ind.- Bolt on rails for MOE hand guards).

I suspect they are feeding you a line.
The rules simply state that the total for firearm parts must be under 100.00 and the company has an export permit.

Two credit card transactions are two separate orders. Law doesn't dictate that you have to wait 2 minutes, 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks, or two years before you can place another one.

I split my order with no problems.

Exporting from the states is like our gun laws. They don't have to make sense - you just have to play by the rules.

split orders work- I have done it before. Also the total doesnt seem to be $100 as Ive had stuff ship over $200 before- it depends on what the parts are.......

A split order shouldn't matter. The law is not $100 per person per year.....;)
You should be able to do 50 orders under $100 if you want.

I guess some items are not consider firearm parts ??? , I have had orders over $100 as well.

Yes I forgot to mention that Sandy @ Brownells says the under $100 guideline is specifically for items categorized as 'gun parts.'

Therefore I assume that stuff like gunKote, SLIP, etc...won't be party to this guideline.

+1 My last order totaled for 300+ but the firearm part were lower then 100 so it was ok . The best thing is to order by phone so they can tell you right away what is considered as a firearm part and what is not , as well as non registered manufacterers . For some reason the ladder rails from magpull are not exportable but the rest is ok , so it s not always obvious .

ar15/m14 parts and accessories are non-exportable to canada in the opinion of most dealers in the us because of the export rules. so to some, it means everything dealing with these guns.

I made four orders for AR parts in one day last month.

Well just an update, both separate orders made back to back of <$100 each, have been charged to the CC, and have been shipped, says my Brownells account. arfcom is useful in finding coupon codes =)
can't wait for the magpul polymer goodness to arrive.

as long as its DPMS or whatver company is on the registered list. should be gtg

Why do we go through this every month?!?!?!?!?!

1)Don't order a barrel,receiver,action,flash hider,it won't ship due to ITAR regs
2)the manufacturer of the part you want must be REGISTERED with the US State Dept
the list is available here on CGN somewhere, search for it, or ask Sandy at Brownells to email you a current copy,if the company name of the part you want is not listed, it ain't shipping
3)Keep your order under $100,(not including shipping) on Brownells website, right beside each gun part it has a link titled NOTICES, which states that:Gun parts totaling $100 or more will not ship outside the US

For example, Wilson Combat is a Registered company, you can order some grips, some springs, a 1911 thumb safety, as long as it totals no more than 100 bucks.

Another example, a Vltor mod stock costs $125, since it is over the $100 limit it won't ship, regardless of whether or not it's a registered company.

4) The ONLY time you can order over $100 is if it's NON-Gun Parts, such as a gun rag or a mat, some rags, etc.

5)Aerosol cans will not ship.

6) If you want to order $400 worth of stuff, split it into numerous smaller orders, Brownells will not limit the number of orders you place at the same time, my record was 5 at once, feel free to order more than that, they don't care since you aren't breaking any laws.

If you follow these rules it should be simple to get most things you want, boviously bigger items will have to be purchased on this side of the border, or get a DSP-83 form from Sandy at Brownells and order over the $100 limit if you really want to.

Good luck and happy shopping.

sorry for thread hijack. If I ordered a lower parts kit which is under 100$... is it good to go?

It depends what company manufactured the item. It has to be with a Registered company or else your order will be canceled.

I checked and the following companies ARE registered.Since that pretty much covers all the lower parts kit manufacturers you should be fine.

Colt
High Standard
DPMS
Bushmaster
Brownells

Because the email that I got from Brownells scared me.
It says they require a original or certified copy of import cert/permit

A written PO on your letterhead stationary, incl foreign party end-user name and complete address

End User Statment

a DSP83 End-User Cert

and then an IIC from DFAIT.
I'm new to import/export of this sort of matter, and it is a bit intimidating. I have no Idea what letterhead they require or what an end-user is...etc.

like silly mike says, you get the IIC form foreign affairs- it;s free also, if you're doing optics and gun parts, you need to get a separate IIC for State and one for commerce dept

the DSP 83 basically says you won't reexport to another country or resell to someone who will. the form is downloadable

the end user certificate says what you will use it for. ( don't say jihadist invasion across the St Lawrence :p)

the order form can be simply a letter from you as an individual ordering the stuff. not formal stationery

It's essentially filling out forms . All the data has to match. It's a PITA and slow, but its the only way to get some items. once youve done a couple and have templates it gets easier
