I did a random search on EE and most decent SKS's are either sold or SPF. A few modified SKS's here and there, or a few in less than good condition, but all-in-all, they are selling fast! Average price is $400 to $600... and some of the better all-matching gems are selling for more. I guess dealer inventory is getting low or are bottom-of-the-barrel.

Loving mine more every day!

Post-up pics of your SKS... It's Christmas season; 'tis the time to pull out your gems to fondle and love. :)

(Even if the photos were taken prior to various boating accidents or sales to Mike in Canmore)

2020 was a good year for my main SKS, it finally got the major face lift id been promising it for years. Still not 100% done. Still planned:

- Sand and re apply more layers of polyurethane.
- Get the gun professionally hot blued.
- Install back on the J TAC AK brake cus the Lantac is too dam aggressive.
- Fabricate a bolt release.

$400 to $600, so I guess the average price would be $500. Hey, someone was going to say it.

Good quality Mosins are going for $400-500 these days :) Well, Soviet milsurps are finally following the suit of Lee Enfields and Garands. Good for them, finally some appreciation will be shown for those rifles - people don't value what they get for cheap.

Here's a few more photos of my SKS toys, since somebody was questioning their authenticity?

Three against the wall, left to right:
1952 Tula non-refurb, all-matching, unissued
1950 Tula hardwood, black bayo, refurb, all-matching
1949 Tula new production laminate stock refurb, all-matching

In locker, at front:
1953 Izhevsk, non-refurb, all-matching, probably unissued. One of three known unissued 1953 Izhevsk's that I have come across. Mine is (was, as I sold it to a collector) the most perfect specimen you will ever see. Superb fit and finish. Sold it several years ago for a record sum of money.

Family photo, top to bottom:

1951 Tula non-refurb, all-matching, unissued
1953 Izhevsk laminate stock refurb, all-matching
1954 Tula non-refurb, all matching, 2008 IZH import, as-issued
1955 Tula non-refurb, all matching, unissued

... and a parkerized/Arma-coated ATI mall ninja special (1952 refurb)

I have owned another dozen or so Russian refurbs and Chinese military and civilian SKS's that all went to good homes.

Sorry no outdoor photos, I don't normally hunt them.

SKS's are good little rifles. Lots of gunners have got started down the rabbit hole with an SKS and a case of cheap ammo. I overheard two old geezers, aka fudds, grumbling over an evil black rifle at the Brooks show. I told another old fart that the young guys are the ones laughing at us old guys now. It's the old guys who butchered all the nice milsurps, so we don't have a lot of room to sneer at the people who want the rifles that tickle their fancy. And, yes, I know that that back in the day the milsurps were cheap and people couldn't afford new rifles...........

By the way, I am an old fart to some. :d

to KURGAN hey.. I have the same "stand up " large Chrome ashtray stand."in your pic"
didnt think I would ever see another one..LOL

Still a lot of rifle for the money. What else can you buy for less than $500 that shoots crates and crates of cheap ammo (30 cal!) and keep on tickin? Hunting, plinking, SHTF, and if you sharpen the bayonet a myriad of other things! Even at $350 it's still a bargain in the Canadian shooting world.
