My New Norc M4 meets Mr. Cutoff Wheel

At the end where he is breaking in the trigger if you stuff a rag in front of the hammer to protect the reciever and loop para cord under the hammer and pull up as you squeeze the trigger. It burnishes the sear, or so I am told and seems to work well. Much quicker than just dry firing for days and jamming a screw driver under the hammer which just seems bubba.

He should have started with a script and left his lack of love life out of it.

I love this thread,I just started trying to punch out the pins on the sight/gas block already 2 punches bit the dust,I was hoping that mystic's was an exception instead of the rule but no luck,I guess I should have ordered a low profile gas block as I will probably have to hack this one off, does anyone know where I can get one in Alberta so I don't have to wait a week and a half for it.

if you are going to keep the same HG length, you can just cut the front sight down and make a very solid low profile gas block.

There is a pic elsewhere on this thread.

Bummer, that those pins are also heman installed on your rig.

Cutoff wheel as a good other removal options. Just keep an eye on the barrel flange just behind the HG ferrule. I almost cut that in the process. You will only be able to cut part way, but solid whacks on the sight will cause the metal to shear nicely over the back pin, shearing the sight off.

I was hoping to keep the front sight and cut it down for a low profile but no dice, surgery is done, its in pieces I would post pics but I might as well cut and past mystic's it looks the same, the barrel nut came and I did not have to hack that one up so that is on plus side.and I am installing a specter length free float so the one barrel nick I did with cut off wheel won't show, now to find a gas block and try to get it here by Tuesday.I will put up some pics when done

I'm looking forward to my gas block and free float hand guard arriving, NOT looking forward to cutting the old ones up though. If anyone in the Red Deer area wants to come over for a beer (beers) and get some hands on sharing some of there AR gun smithing expertise shoot me a PM. Im a noob first time AR owner:rolleyes:

Hi I am writing from Italy and we have the same probleme since the Norinco M4 arrived here as well. My friend tryed very hard to push out the pins with no luck and at the end he cut away the front sight BUT SURPRISE when he went to fit a new front sight bock (low profile) the pin hole did not match !!!!!! apparentrly the have not the same interhax of the USA front sight block ....did any one experience the same in the US ??? or maybe my friend purcesed a no good front sight block???

The cost of a new sight isn't worth the aggravation. Cut and be happy.

Just watch the flange when you are cutting off the site. You can easily nick the barrel before the disc cuts through.

Enjoy...

Jerry
