My new red baby :D

I've mentioned before, maybe even here - but the D&H mags rock on mine - zero resistance anywhere.

You can tell they had USGI specs in mind when they built the 97.

Mine does not beat up brass like yours does. Im shooting at an outdoor range and the brass is landing in sand. Little dents here and there but not actual damage.

Mag compatability is so random with these things. I have 8 brand new gen 3 Pmags and they wont even go into the mag well... not even an inch. But, my grey LAR mags slide in like butter and drop free.

I love the upper rail design in an earlier post here. Im not sure it would be so easy as the rear sight post is actually part of the guns frame. Youd have to cut the rear sight post off and drill it to mount up a new longer rail. its doable. But it wouldnt be an easy job. Id still do it though. The handle is the worst part of this gun.

This happend with lar15 black and grey mags, 3 in total 2 today and 1 on wednesday.

Put 140 rounds through it today and it was smokin, the handguard was getting very hot.

I have to use no.3 aperture as i cant see sh1te with 1, going to try outdoors (out to 200yards) tommorow or sunday.

Dont wory my tavor does that to with lar 15 mags sometimes to, they just aren't that good.

Caleb, not to worried about it, just wanted to know if others get it with lar15. Thanks

drifter dave, this happend with norc, and other ammo. The fellow a few lanes down from me was also shooting his t97 and it happend to him with stock mag using pmc ammo. I have put 50 + rounds through stock mag and not had the issue, with me its lar15 mags only.

One other note, this only happens with the first round in the mag, the other 9 rounds seem to feed fine after the first is removed. Others have said to smack the mag, If i do that it pushes the mag to far up and when you release the handle the round never loads. I find just putting the mag in until you hear it click in place is the best in my sitiation, push the mag to far in and it hangs on feeding the rounds.

I don't smack it but I insert it with authority and no feeding issues whatsoever. Then you get this other guy who had similar results as you with my rifle and he's not a gun rookie by any means.

Just a note, loosening the mag release button a couple of turns got half of my LAR mags to drop free (one of those was the sacrificial lamb that got half of its finish stripped), so this might work better for someone with a magwell a bit looser than mine. Tested with one more I found lying around, so 3 work and 4 don't. One of the 3 that work had to sacrifice the finish.

Market forces tell me that the price of the Tavor will have to come down now that there is competition. If I were a dealer I doubt if I would import more Tavors with the competition selling for way less that half the price. IF the Type 97's turn out to be no good then that will save the Tavor, but I somehow doubt that will be the case.

Means little, but of the two I prefer the looks of the Norinco over the Tavor.

Norinco copy of sig p226 didn't bring the sig price down.
Norinco ar15 didn't being the ar15 price down.
The US tavors didn't bring the Canadian tavor prices down.

Market forces tell me that it is very rare to see reduction in gun prices.

Unless there are 5 other bullpups in the $1000 range in the Canadian market, then maybe you will see the price of tavors dropping.
The Canadian market is not big enough to have real competition and price reduction.

It's easy to fix that, just shorten the follower a little.

I am not going to mess with them, they work fine in my 2 ar and my mossberg mvp, i have many more mags that work in the T97.

I just tried the 10 pmags gen 2 moe and all of them fit easy and drop free with no modification.

Window gen 2 will not even start to go in to the magwell.

pmag gen 3 both fit ok

presscheckventures mags same as window gen2, no go.

I don't care where they come from, really. I just care that they end up in the hands of good, freedom loving, responsible men and women.

I like that it is a n/r bullpup in a readily available calibre that is available to a lot of folks on a budget. I might have to pick one up for familiarization.

Actually, the Norinco AR DID in fact bring the price of AR15's down, pre-Norc AR you could not buy an AR15 for less than $1400, now look at the prices.

Used a forward mount to move it about 1".. Still about 1/2" too far back but I can deal with that. Next up will be Dave's cheek riser mod, but I'm thinking 4 slots in the riser and some velcro strap in order to keep my baby intact.

If the mount works well, I'll try to find something that's as low as it gets because with low rings and 1" back I was getting -3" at 20, +5" at 100, zeroed at 50.
