My rifle shoots 1/2" groups @100 yards all day! Really? Prove it.

Way to go Abbycat. Great to see a female shooter come out and give it a try and nail it quickly. That is what, 8 of us out of over 5000 views attempt it.

I may be at it again tommorrow.

Do I need to pull out the 6PPC?????? :-............

I never counted how many have attempted, but only 3 have been successful. The successful attempts are posted in the original post. I hope to see that list grow.

As I sit here loading up some more ammo all I can do is stare at this damn group!

What happened? Why? Stupid fliers! Maybe that's the price I pay for using a 14X scope. Oh well, I guess I have to suck it up and try again next weekend.

get a better target to aim at, with the square box you can weld your point of aim on a corner......short of doing that the targets I use is more like throwing a golf ball into a football field with a 1/8 minute dot on a 36x scope.

Your dot and a heavy cross hair/low magnification will make it difficult to line up each shot in the same spot...it is more important to have a consistant aiming point then to have the bullets hit where your aiming, once you shoot out your aiming point your going to make your group grow......

I see what you are saying, but I have tried the squares and they just don't work for me. Actually the size of the dot is perfect for my reticle and is the best option I have found for this scope.

Going to feel like -39 with a 15km wind and a few flurries thrown in and I am still thinking of going out tomorrow morning on icy highways to try for this, I must be nuts :D

Edit- I am a wimp, will try for next weekend

I gave it a go today not really thinkiing I could pull off 5 in a row. Stock 700P in a 308 wtih an 8-32 Sightron. 168 Bergers over 44.5 Varget, Hornaday Brass, BR2 primers - 20 thou off the lands. Got .52 to .78 though and happy about that. Love the challenge and find this thread VERY interesting as I was so amazed at how many ......"shoots .5 all day long if I do my part" guns were out there. Now it seems they are not quite as many as we thought!! I know we have some poor weather back east right now but waiting to see them posted when it warms up. I am assuming you experienced folks out there would agree that to get my gun under .5 "all day long" ...I would have to rebarrel?

I am PHA@@ING CRAZY. I went out today to try. Got outside the door of the house and said you are nuts boy. Temp was -25 with winds at 50k with gusts over 65k. Feels like - 42. Got to the range and it was COLD.

I said okay if anything try it. I set my lone flag out. Set up on the bench same as yesterday. Put my thin white gloves on and gave it a whirl. Oh NO glove on the trigger finger. I thought to myself, SELF R U NUTS.

Watched the wind and got 5 shots off into a .359. Yee Haw. Maybe I can do this. Tried another, .369. Then it went for crap. I could not hold it together. The wind just to violent and to cold out there.

I was not the only nut out there. As I was leaving another pulled in to pattern his shotgun. Manitoba die Hards we are.

Well, this was just as I thought. I think I only counted two or three rifles capable of this. Although we read about rifles capable of this on the web all the time in actuality they are not very common. The rifles that did manage to pull it off were certainly not your average run of the mill rifle, especially the PGW rig.
I would certainly like to see this challenge repeated but this time with big game calibers and hunting rifles say from 25 caliber on up and with five 3-shot groups instead of five. Also, rifle weight with all accessories should be under 11 pounds which is still a pretty heavy hunting gun!
To all of those that submitted targets whether you meant the challenge or not there was some great shooting done. Congrats.

Well just to be fair it is January in Canada. I realize that I had a great idea with this challenge, but to be honest my timing sucks. Many people aren't shooting this time of year, and the weather has been cold and windy in many parts of Canada. Plus I believe many more people will be trying this as time goes on. And the thread is only 5 days old so in reality even though it is 16 pages long it is still a fairly new thread. I am quite blown away from the response to it. Have fun everyone and keep trying. Rod

This should be made a sticky......and a annual or monthly challenge, we may need a new forum for online postal matches much like the one posted in the rimfire section.........

I know the original purpose of this thread was to call out all those that make the claim......who have since gone quite quiet.........and it should live on as is, its obviously quite popular judging by the veiws it is receiving, I wouldn't mind even seeing the failed attemps, as even those prove who is trying and who isn't, but not only that, some may have repeated type fliers that others have tamed with different loading technique......
