My Rifle Shoots 1/2 MOA at 300 yards/meters All Day! Really? Prove It!

Well after about a half dozen failed attemps at the 100 meter challenge over the last couple months I decided to switch things up and shoot the 300 meter challenge. These are my first five groups, I shot another five test loads where four of five made it under .5 moa.

Rifle is a Savage large shank, Krieger barrel chambered in .223 rem, 8 twist bedded in a B&C tactical stock. Scope is a Sightron 8-32x56 LRMOA.

Target shot at the 300 meter target board at the Nicola Valley gun club

Group 1. 1.657" .483 moa
Group 2. 1.632" .475 moa
Group 3. 1.326" .386 moa
Group 4. 1.163" .338 moa
Group 5. 1.510" .439 moa

Group Average 1.457" .424 moa

Gave it a attempt yesterday ( Saturday) but " FAILED " --- GOT OH SO CLOSE !!!!!!

Just one of those great spring day's when you just can't wait to get to the range. Morning started off @ about 8*C. & by noon it had to be 13 - 14*C.
NO WIND - but had some heavy mirage by noon, especially @ 300 meters. ( Any chance your starting to see some bare ground back EAST yet ??? )

Pic's & targets should tell the rest :

Just noticed that I screwed up on the date on the target - it should be March 30 - forgot the 0.

I just ordered a Sightron 8-32x56 from Jerry at Mystic Precision. I will be retrying this once I get it mounted.

Just got back from the range myself & feel like your buddy in the picture. Met the " Challenge " finally but got caught in a heck of a rainstorm this afternoon while shooting.
Will post results once targets are dried out a bit.

Drying out target board -- 2 larger targets on right side where used as sighters as I had to shoot 2 different bullets & loads.
Target #1-2-3 load was -- 28.0 gr./ Varget - CCI br4 - 108 Berger BT. - .020 jump
Target #4-5 " -- 30.5 gr./ N135 - Fed 205m - 80 Berger FB. -.005 jump ( target soaked by this time as you can tell by the bullet hole size on #4 & #5 )

Now the DREADED MATH :

Target #1 --- 1.108" - .243 = .865" div. by 3.28 =.264" div.by 1.047 === .252moa ----- Small group
Target #2 --- 1.392" = 1.149" =.350" === .335moa ----- Pulled 1st shot high / left & had to go chasing after it.
Target #3 --- 1.122" = .879" =.268" === .256moa
Target #4 --- 1.388" = 1.145" =.350" === .333moa
Target #5 --- 1.760" = 1.517" =.463" === .442moa ----- Last 2 shots high / 12 oclock caused by just plain """ FEAR """

Agg. =.339" === .324moa

040_zps917dbcc0.jpg
[/IMG]

Target #5 - Large Group = .442moa

045_zps71c6ffee.jpg
[/IMG]

Target # 1 - Small Group = .252moa ( almost caught you JEC -- But got the YIPPS on the 5th. shot )

Hope all you fellow shooters get the opportunity to " TRY THIS CHALLENGE " --- " YOU WILL LEARN A TONNNNNNNN " Cheers Rob

Nice shooting rfkc ..and for keeping that 6BR case dominant in this thread. No doubt they are effective when properly pointed. I don't care for a lot of rain, but I'm getting to the point I'd gladly trade it for our snow. The Range where I shoot still has at least a foot all the way from the firing line to 300M (April 5) and we just got another dusting last night...and still just below 0C.

OH I am IN!! lol. I'll give it a go with my HS HTR and my Timberwolf. If the weather is good (no wind) I'll even try with my Savage mark II TR .22 lr for ####s and giggles ;)
Will post result in a few days
Happy shooting every one!
