i'd say lynx as well.
They can get to a pretty good size at the shoulder height and that pic looks like a cat that is somewhat shaggier like a lynx rather than a sleeker, shorter hair of a cougar if that makes sense.
I'm going to say lynx or bobcat. In addition to all the other comments, just the relative size of the head with respect to the body doesn't look right for a cougar.
How are all you guys deciding how big it is? No way to tell from that photo.
In my limited experience viewing bobcat they were the smallest of our 'big cats' in Canada, and Bobcats tended to have spots on thier coat.
Is your experience otherwise?
Well this spot must be really great for rabbits/hares.
Much like cougars will make thier home in and amongst peak deer populations, lynx do likewise with rabbits/hares.
