I just received my new stock adapter and I thought I would share some pics on it.

This is the new adapter and Magpul UBR stock in comparison to the factory stock.

They are about the same length but the UBR and adapter is much heavier. The adapter is definitely beefy and solidly built.

I put the rifle together and it is coming together nicely. I put a Magpul MIAD and XTM rail covers on the rifle. She balances out quite nicely and is definitely less muzzle heavy. The cheekweld is much better to the sights and the rifle; while heavier, it definitely feels more balanced.

I really like the MIAD grip. I put a couple of spare rounds and the sight adjustment tool into it.

I have an empty space in the UBR stock, I don't know what I should put into it, I think maybe a small bottle of oil and a bore snake but I haven't decided yet.

WildP: I don't think that there is an easy way to access the buffer tube. I don't need a pile of storage space anyway - I wouldn't ever throw a segmented rod down this barrel. I did notice that my barrel is marked 5.56mm 1/9 so it is even more evil then the lowly .223 Rem marked barrels. I think I may change the optics to some sort of SPR type...

Davy: At first, I thought it looked functional but ugly. However, it is really starting to grow on me. I now have 4 quick detach sling points - 2 on the UBR (which are reversible) and 2 on the adapter. The cheekweld is amazing with the factory iron sights and Aimpoint. The balance of the rifle is now perfect (IMO) I need to get a picatinny sling mount and a qd swivel for the rear and this should be all set up.

That thing has got some heft to it.

But, THANK GOD, it looks like NEA made this at the 'right' height (i.e. AR-15 stock height). Thank you NEA, I will be purchasing one as soon as possible.

It does have heft but the cheekweld is amazing with this rifle now and the LOP is much much better. Even at its shortest, the rifle is easily reasonable if you need to wear Body Armour - which I don't so I have it set at Number 2 on the UBR (6 pos adjustment) and it fits me perfectly. I really didn't like the tube stock and scope mount options with the factory stock looked ridiculous (bell of the scope almost touching the rail) I think if you can accept that a non restricted semi is going to weigh a few pounds more then a boltgun you will enjoy this type of setup. I haven't weighed it yet but this is definitely way more in the weight dept then any of my boltguns except my .338 LM which is 18.5lbs scoped.

Yeah, I like the concept but why is the adaptor so long?.....looks about twice as long as neccessary. Just my thoughts.

.

This is true.

I mean look at the GRSC XCR SSA (Straight Stock Adaptor). It's compact, and the same height. Not exactly the same features, but...

... can't please everyone NEA..

Welcome to the world economy. You will be compared to others, especially when it comes to design.

That being said, GRSC doesn't seem to be putting their stock adapter into production, so I guess that is one less competitor to your design.

IMO, the problem with the factory stock is that it is too short and not adjustable. The NEA adapter is function and the look is starting to grow on me. The cheekweld and Length of Pull difference now is night and day. The XCR stock was just adequate the new adapter and UBR stock are much much better.
