Because this has already been tried and dismissed. By producing non-restricted alternatives it proves the pointlessness of keeping the AR15 and 10 restricted, so at a later date they can be removed.

Yep. The libs waited for the next mass shooting and then used the tragedy.

I have to say, I have had the worse experience NEA. Quality, service, respect..Just terrible...But everyone deserves another chance...If this is actually NR I will definitely pick one up. Can't hurt to try. Everyone needs a NR 308

Going to have to find an AR10A2 barrel and gas block and build me a NR AR10A2 clone.
I'm just hoping the barrel nut assy system they use are compatible with AR10 components. Then it's an A2 stock, grip and an attachable carry handle A2 sight and I'll be rocking

LOL I was proven right when the nea 25 was deemed restricted. That post is from last year.

Well not that I know any inside information, but if I had to guess I'd suggest since this project is 2+years in the making, maybe the NEA25 was built for a purpose. Build that, sell it overseas, find out what makes it restricted, and build the 102 specifically to avoid those qualities.
If I had to put my tinfoil hat on that's what I would assume.

Either way we'll find out soon.

Well they are $2500NZ after shipping conversion and modification my math got me to $1950 don't get me wrong I'm not buying over $1500 and I'd love to see something in this price range. I just can't get the math on all their other AR10's going to different countries already. However maybe they will give a home town discount and make the CAD's $1395 that would be a nice number.

I'm seeing them for $2345 in NZ. After currency conversion you're at $1575, then you're only budgeting $375 to ship from Canada to NZ, clear customs, clear port storage for however long it's stuck there incurring charges, brokerage, conversion and distribution.

Assuming most businesses have massive overhead for carrying their product, insurance, utilities and staffing, and have to put a good portion or all of their money up front, a 25% 'profit' over cost is probably accurate, so $1950 NZD plus 25% = $2437.5 NZD, which is almost exactly what they're going for there. I do acknowledge that the $1500 starting price is MSRP and not retailer's cost, but the math does seem to check out if you factor for more costs between them leaving NEA and the store counter on the far side of the planet.

I have no personal experience with NEA, and have been warned against them, but I also don't see any harm in keeping an eye on these and seeing what happens. If these come out as non-restricted they'll be a benefit to Canadian gun owners regardless of how they perform, so here's hoping!

You did the conversion wrong it's 0.95 NZD to CAD right now.
As I stated previous it's been said already 1550-1699 is what SFRC will be selling these at once finalized.

This may very well be the most coherent post in this thread!

North Eastern Arms It's a barrel change

What kind of bad experience did you have with an NEA rifle?

There were a lot of quality control issues back in the day. Most of those seem to have been growing pains and are resolved now. Their customer service remained strong through it all.

This 102 is obviously NR with all the hype they are spewing on Facebook. It would really be silly of them to post the NR comments and hints and it end up being restricted. First time I've been on a Facebook page though

I personally did have bad experience with their products.
I was helping a good friend assemble his NEA AR a couple years back.
We got to the barrel install. The sprockets on the NEA barrel nut started popping off before we even got close to 40 ft lbs.
I had to keep taking the nut wrench off and moving to the next set which then also pop off etc
Eventually with about 6 more left on the f**king thing it actually held until we could get it aligned at around 60 ft lbs
It was a free float type. When we rotated his handguard on, the tab at the top of the guard that was supposed to act as a rotation stop against the receiver popped right off without much more than light hand twisting of the guard. The inside metal looked like melted down Chinese pot metal. Light grey and very porous and air gapped inside both the busted barrel nut and the hand guard.
After building around 8 AR's now over the years (mine and friends) I have never seen anything else like this first hand. Put me off them for good.
Until now. I hear they got better since with their materials. That's the only actual experience I ever had personally.
I'm willing to give them a second chance on these big time but only if I can swap the barrel for a standard AR10A2 style and build me a NR AR10A2 look alike :D
