I'm seeing them for $2345 in NZ. After currency conversion you're at $1575, then you're only budgeting $375 to ship from Canada to NZ, clear customs, clear port storage for however long it's stuck there incurring charges, brokerage, conversion and distribution.
Assuming most businesses have massive overhead for carrying their product, insurance, utilities and staffing, and have to put a good portion or all of their money up front, a 25% 'profit' over cost is probably accurate, so $1950 NZD plus 25% = $2437.5 NZD, which is almost exactly what they're going for there. I do acknowledge that the $1500 starting price is MSRP and not retailer's cost, but the math does seem to check out if you factor for more costs between them leaving NEA and the store counter on the far side of the planet.
I have no personal experience with NEA, and have been warned against them, but I also don't see any harm in keeping an eye on these and seeing what happens. If these come out as non-restricted they'll be a benefit to Canadian gun owners regardless of how they perform, so here's hoping!
