I've been casually search for an /06 for a while now that just screams classic. What I know I want is CRF action, iron sights great walnut stock, 20"-22" barrel.

What I am considering is:
Brno ZKK 600
Brno ZG47
Husky 1600
Parker & Hale
Ruger RS

Wondering if you gentlemen you care to add your opinions and suggestions on what I have listed and if I have missed any great options.

Pics of your rifles wouldn't hurt either!

Rifles made for Frankonia in Germany are still around as well. Mauser 1906 and Husqvarna FN98 are also worth considering.

I have a Husqvarna 1900 in 30-06 with a Williams peep sight, classy enough for me anyway. Sorry not CRF missed that in the first post.

Edit, sorry missed the CRF reference.

Winchester Model 70 pre 64 or a new one in the featherweight or super grade model. A Kimber Classic or a classic select would fit the bill as well.

As per Post #12 - consider a pre-64 Win Model 70 in 30-06 - even though the one here has a 24" barrel. Has bonus of being able to single load, beside control round feed - as do M1917 based rifles, which some were done up very nicely. An authentic Mauser 98 (arch-typical control round feed) will not single load, although it's extractor nose can be ground to do so.

For the record - I own and have owned a significant number of push-feed M70 Winchesters - I still own a 22-250 (made in 1982) and a 338 Win Mag (also made in 1982), and our son has the 308 Win that I bought new in 1976. You will not be able to convince me that there is any practical advantage to a "CRF", over any of them - "hairy" situations or not - the rifles and I have been there a time or two, and we are all still here.

By your choice of CRF you have eliminated virtually all Remington rifles and certainly the Weatherby Mark V - I believe some early, but not all, Weatherbys may have used CRF actions. CRF is not the external extraction claw - it is the fact that a short stroke will extract the short stroked cartridge, rather than allowing a jam. So, a No. 4 Lee Enfield is CRF, whereas a Weatherby Mark V is not.

I have a BRNO 600 without the peep. It's a beautiful rifle, carries nicely. Has irons and a B&L 3x9 in medium CZ rings.

The safety is noisy to operate and is back to fire so if you shoot other rifles it may throw you off. I have a BRNO 602 as my bigger rifle so the safties are the same.

It's nice to have machined rifles. Even the magazine floorplates are machined.

Add SAKO L61r and Mannlicher Schoenauer 1950s models to the list. Great North has a few but you could get a better deal on the EE for sure
