Need a Modern non restricted semi auto rifle

I still say swiss ams or SL8, but I am one of those weird guys who have just about owned and shot everything available at one time or another and always went back to these two in the end. It comes down to personal preference, I have thousands of rounds through either with not one single failure, I cant say that for the other brands I have owned in 223/556 rifles.

The hk sl8 is a good one too my friend has one and it's a good time but 223 gets expensive if you like to shoot 500 plus rounds in one session the real way of deciding what you like is to go give em a feel see what your needs are te tavors are cool but not my style I enjoyed the feel of the xcr over the sl8 and that's why I picked it each to their own

I had an XCR in .223, and really liked it. They are a great shooting rifle. I no longer have it, but if you decide to go the XCR route, buy with confidence. I can't speak too much to any other black rifles, but I have had good experiences with my XCR.

Going on 4000 rounds through my XCR. I did manage to break one firing pin at around 2500 or 3000 rounds, but Wolverine had two new ones to me in under a week. Absolutely no issues with anything else, bolt hold open and recoil buffer look like they will last to 10K rounds easily. Runs everything I have fed it on gas setting 2.

If I get the itch for another non-restricted black rifle I'd be seriously looking at a Tavor and just maybe a swiss.

I am in the list for a type 97. awesome looking rifle. I don't enjoy my su16f that much, it's a piece of junk plastic that shoots 10 feet left and 3 feet low when new....

H@k.... Sl-8 all the way!!!!...223
Just an awesome little toy...... I looked at them all the fit on the shoulder at first is different ... But then it grows on you.... Coyotes don't stand a chance

Just to chime in here. You could always go with a kel tec su16. It's 223, light as hell and will take the LAR pistol mags for 10 shots. Can be had for around 7-800$.

And yes iknow a tavor or xcr would be what everyone would say but If your not looking to spend thousands....it is an option.

Thanks for the input, It's great to hear from so many owners, and even better to hear from someone who has both the XCR and Tavor.

I have the XCR L & M, ACR, Tavor, 858, Classic Greens and a few others. The XCR with the light profile barrel from Robinson goes a long way to balancing the rifle. For my money, the Classic Green it the best rifle of the bunch, but all are good choices. The problem is that the Classic Green may become prohib in early July. I wouldn't want to invest in a Classic Green until we find out what will happen with them.

Lots of problems with them. I have seen a number broken in half.
