Need a new 9mm. What's your fave and why?

Go classic--get a Browning Hi-Power and experiece what a "real" pistol feels like. :) Just kidding! It is my choice in the 9mm platform because I like the fit in my hand and the feel. Try as many as you can and ignor the advice in this thread--get the one that feels the best to you. Part of the fun is buying and trying a few different guns.

Hey buddy...go with the P226. I just recently picked up a P226 Elite Dark in 9mm, and the thing is simply awesome! You know how hardcore HK I am...since I made that purchase, which I might add was my first SIG purchase, I picked up a TacOps 40...that's how much I liked the 226. Some guys don't like the beaver tail on the Elite models, but I find that it helps a bit more with "locking" the pistol into your hand...really helps at allowing you to get a firm, yet comfortable grip on the pistol.

I'm not done with SIG yet. I've been eyeing the MK25, and I think that when the right one comes along, I'm not gonna' think twice about whether I should buy it or not...

I don't want to contradict myself, but if you want a couple of options, look at the HK P30 as well. The grip is fantastic, and you can customize it in a number of ways, tailored to your preference. And that whole thing about the trigger being crappy, well, that's just someone else's opinion. Put a few down the pipe, get that trigger working, and you'll see how good it ends up feeling. Maybe it's just me being biased, but HK really turned out fantastic pistol with the release of the P30.

If you were just a bit closer, I would definitely let you test drive 'em both. If you need any more info, you know how to contact me. Later, brother...

H&K P30LS V1 (with LEM trigger: constant trigger pull weight). Simply the best!

I agonized over this decision just this past week. Buying my first restricted, I narrowed it down to SIG 226 or Beretta 92fs and agonized back and forth, changing my mind dozens of times. In the end I decided that since I'm starting with 9mm I'll go for the Beretta since 92fs is only available in 9mm, and later on at some point I'll add a SIG 226 in a .40 S&W, that way I don't really have to choose :) :) :) But starting out with the Beretta because it's cheaper and because I think 9mm is a better round for starting out.

Now waiting for the CFO to approve the transfer, so painful, what's taking so long! It's been two days already!!!

Ha.. I had the same dilema. Finally I decided to buy both, keep the one I prefer & sell the other. 3 years later, I still can't decide.

Hey Dan-O, I've owned both the 226 TacOps and the 226 Elite. I liked them, but for some reason I let them go. No complaints. I don't need a .40, I'm still rocking that sweet USP I got from you. I'm looking real hard at the STI Targetmaster, or maybe if I can find a sweet custom Hi-Power. I'm still considering the Sig MK 25 too. Hope all is well man.

All is good, brother...hope it is for you as we'll...

I'm sure whatever you choose to buy you'll be happy with. All of the awesome info posted on this thread, opinions and experiences given, should be enough to help you pick your next 9, at least enough to put you in the right direction. But your taste is just as sweet and expensive as mine! I'm sure when you do find what you're looking for, you will be very happy with it. Good luck, man...

So, I've decided. After mulling over several models in the STI catalog (Rangemaster, Targetmaster, Sentry, etc.) but finally settled on a Trojan 6" longslide...only to find out FV won't have stock until late summer. So, I placed an ad in the EE and found one! Only 400 rounds fired and with the tritium Bomar sights I wanted. Will post pics when it shows, but until then here's a pic the seller sent me.

She's a very beautiful lady. Alas, Wolverine was out of stock. One of these days I'll grab one.

Ya don't "grab" a P-210 Legend ! Think of something soft, smooth and curvy.:evil:

If you ever get one, PM me and I will give you some subtle mods that make it even better.

Sweet. Ok, let me try again. One day I will be lucky enough to lovingly fold a Sig P210 Target into my wistful embrace, pledging my eternal devotion to its form, fit and function. Better?

I've always disliked the G17, until I tried a Gen4. It all came together with that slight change to the grip.

That said, the two pistols I've wanted to try but haven't are the XDm and the 226 Elite.

You should buy those two and tell me how they are LOL.

EDIT: I missed your post about having owned the 226.
