need help buying first 9mm handgun

May as well say it.

If ya want a cheap 9mm you can really beat on, try a Ruger P89.

My P89 with Hogue grips.

They go for around $400. Bulky, will eat anything including hot reloads/ect.

If you want an all metal gun for under, get a Browning Hi-Power (much nicer gun than CZ-75 in my opinion). Or save up another $100 and buy a Sig P226.

I have both CZ 75B and G17, they are both very reliable but IMO CZ is much better gun than Glock but my G17 shoot better than my CZ. Good things about CZ is better build, more refine, very solid, comfortable grip, a lot of meat for you paid for. If you take both side by side to compare, Glock indeed not as nice as CZ. Having said that I enjoy shoot the Glock more than the CZ because the grip angle allow more control. trigger reach and travel is very short, now these two gun is a must have and you may want to buy them both.

Glocks are good. Quester has a special on the XD, M&P is also easy to shoot. Nothing wrong with all metal, but there is certainly nothing wrong with a plastic receivered pistol.

I ordered an XD this morning from questar...can't wait.

Salesman had his head up his *ss. I've owned lots of pistols, both polymer and steel framed, honestly there isn't 10 cents difference in reliability between a good quality steel frame and a good quality polymer. Buy the gun that feels best in your hand, and that points well, and that looks cool ('cause it's supposed to be fun).

get what fits your hand and comfort.. thats the main important thing .
then your budget , and you must like the look of it. if it aint cool to you. you wont enjoy shooting it.
i agree stay away from norincos,
dont listen to salesmen... they want to sell you what they have in stock.

You could get a CZ 75 shipped for around $650 from guns & things. Glocks start at $620.50 + tax & shipping from Wolverine supplies(free handgun shipping in June!) . I've bought from both, awesome people to deal with. There is a sale of XD-9's going on at Questar.ca for $599 + tax shipping while stock lasts. frontiertaxidermy.com has M&P 9's for $550 after rebate right now.

In your price range there are a lot of options. :D

yeah , i know the game, i am a sellsman myself but i am an onest one!;)
i fear that he has issues againts plastic pistols (the way he was speaking about thems!)

wanna taco, was that tx and shipping included??? if so, please tell me where.

and ho yeah, they have glock17 and sw m&p's in stock.

I purchased at Wolverine Supplies (one of the sponsors here) who are fantastic people to deal with:D. With tax delivered to Ontario, I paid $626.33. They are offering free shipping on handguns for the month of June.

update.....

i spent over 2 hours at my local gunshop and i handled close to 15 handguns.
my mind is set on a s&w m&p but i also really liked the feel of the cz 75 sp1 (and that nice s&w 1911 but that's for later) so i will prob buy both.
thanks for your advises!!!

Hard pressed to beat the above advice.

Apparently true, but I just can't get over the Fugly looks.

Before I bought my first P7, I was skeptical too, squeeze cocker...whats that about? Go to the range and ask someone to try one. After you are able to see for yourself just what a quality piece of workmanship this pistol is, I think you will change your mind. I know I have had at least one member order one after trying mine. I now own 3.
