Need help with my swedish mauser...

Contact Michel Martel, at Armurier Lavaltrie. He made some for me in the past. There's almost no limits on what you can get, it will depend on $$$ you want to spend. Don't expect to have it back the day after though.

So today I brought the rifle at Armurerie Lavaltrie.
Michel seem to be a gr8 guy to work with.
It should be done in less than a month :p
Finally I went with the custom picatinny rail.

It's like Christmas approaching :D

I think you'll be satisfied with Michel's work. He is also a great guy to talk to.

I still don't have the rifle... 5 months after... Damn its long and hunting is near... I will call him this morning.

Hey Baribal, what you think of my new swedish mauser ???

wow, you make me want to puke! thats the nicest tiger mauser ive seen, congrats you lucky b======
hope she shoots as nice as she looks! enjoy

These rifles were the ancestors of the CG63. They were intended to be used by the Civilian Marksmanship of Sweden. Most of those M/96 coming here today are from prior civilian ownership. The army source is quite dry and won't show up in big number again for sure.

Today I cleaned the rifle. Its in VG overall shape. This rifle is rebarelled, not the same serial # than the receiver and the QC stamp is not the same. On the barrel there is also a * B * with a CG crown on top.

The sights are really amazing !!! Now I must find the online manual...

Not unusual for a FSR to have a replacement barrel. Those rifles are great value for the money.

There is a couples for sale a TRADEEX.

Still waiting for my other swedish mauser, Michel told me for some reasons, the trigger I got don't fit into the CG63 barelled action. I must put an aftermarket trigger.

Can anyone give me some feedback on this........

98 Mauser sporter based on a Spandau Gewehr 1905 action, in 35 Whelen. 24" barrel, no open sights. Drilled and tapped, includes Weaver bases. Timney trigger with side safety, Boyd's Forest Camo stock. Butter knife bolt handle. LOP 13 3/4", weight about 8 1/2 pounds

I have no idea on Mausers at all.

Thanks.

Well, very OT, but if Ben doesn't mind me answereing (and I assume he doesn't), the rifle should be good to go. I can't say much more without seeing the rifle, so maybe if you can start a new thread and post pics, we can tell more. But from what you say, seems the action is a reworked ex-military with a new barrel, stock and trigger...

Ben, I don't know about the trigger you got, but I suspect that if Michel told you so, it should be the truth. Waiting for a gunsmith to do his work is not unusual, you know.... and most of the times, the good gunsmiths are not in a hurry... :0

Yeah I know that but he told me a month... The rifle is there since the month of May... So now I need to borrow a rifle for deer hunting...
The only thing missing to complete the project is the scope rings...

For the trigger, I choose a Timney w/o side safety... It costs about 100$...

Hey Baribal, I need your help...

So looks like I will have to find a trigger myself...

The problem is, the m96 stock trigger doesn't fit on the CG63 barelled action. The gunsmith told me I need a longer trigger ( longer housing, not the sear of course ).

My question is : can it be a M94 receiver with a cg63 barrel ??? Any differences between a M96 trigger assembly vs a M94 ???

I droped a PM to a canadian Timney triggers distributors and he told me Timney doesn't make any triggers for a M96 swedish mauser !!!
LoL this guy doesn't know anything about what he sells...

I will try to find a smarter retailer, should be pretty easy !!!

No, M/94 96 and 38 are all the same action receiver. Only the bolt handle changes.

Go there; Tmney make more than one style to fit the pre-98 actions ... http://www.timneytriggers.com

Featherweight P/N is F M95-6 #203
Sportman is P/N M95-6 #103 ....

There's also the Dayton Traister which isn't bad... actually, you have even more choices offered to you...

Yeah I know Timney make triggers for M96...
But the gunsmith told me a M96 trigger don't fit my action...

I looked at the Dayton triggers, if all swedish mausers have same trigger, why they make one for M93-M95 mauser and another model for M96 swedish mauser ???
Timney also have many triggers for the swedish mauser...

I think that's really weird and I don't know what to do...

Dude - The 93 and 95 actions are not Swedish. Your gunsmith is OTL - you want the 96 trigger. You will likely have to do modifications to the stock and trigger guard to accommodate the larger and more complex mechanism of the trigger. I've used several of the Dayton Traister triggers (w/o safety), they work well.

Unless the receiver was modified, it should fit.
Can you get details on what "doesn't fit"? Did he try your trigger? Are you sure it's M/96 trigger (does it show the crown stamp?)?

I don't think the gunsmith is b-sing you, I think there's a misunderstanding somewhere...

M/94, M/96 and M/38 ARE the exact same actions and all parts interchange, except the for the (straight) bolt handle of the M/96.
