Need help with my swedish mauser...

Perhaps you mis-understood my post. The aftermarket 96 trigger is not a drop in for any Swedish mauser. You've typically got to hog out the stock (to accomodate the trigger housing) and lengthen the trigger laneway in the trigger guard (The trigger sits further to the rear that the stock trigger.)
Maybe this is what your gunsmith means by "doesnt fit"...

I agree with Cosmic; most aftermarket triggers need some stock / guard alteration to fit (unless your CG63 stock was fitted by a previous owner).

Yeah I know that guys...Thats not a problem... I know for years that Mausers Timney triggers need some stock work.

I need to buy a trigger because he told me a M96 trigger don't fit my CG63 action. The sotck is not the problem.
First i wanted to use the old factory trigger but the gunsmith told me it doesn't fit...

I think I'm gonna go see the gunsmith cauz I doubt the trigger don't fit.

It SHOULd fit, unless the receiver was altered. All you need is the pivot dowell and the sping.

Also check your cocking piece, as many are / were altered for different reasons.

For the aftermarket trigger, I dont think you even need the old spring. And you can use the existing pivot pin. The only part of the cocking piece that is concerning is the sear engagement surface.

Cosmic, I was referring to his original M/96 Mauser trigger he already have in hamds. The aftermarket triggers usually only request to use the original pivot pin, as the front body held in place by a set screw.

Ben, cocking pieces are easy to get and not expensive.

I hope its the cocking piece...

I drop a call to my gunsmith and I will go there Monday to see whats going on.
I will bring a spare M96 complete bolt and my FSR rifle, I hope I will figure whats the problem.

The cocking piece is modified or not from factory ( look picture below ).
But the trigger parts and complete bolt come from the same rifle, and it worked perfectly in the other action.
So I'm affraid the CG63 action has been modified... :( I hope not but its possible.

I will also take some photos and few measurements.

Ben, is it the core CG63 you picture before? If so, it does not seem to be modified. There might be something that makes (is it still Michel?) the gunsmith doubt, but I can't say what.
CG63 were made from either M/96 and M/94, rarely from M/38, so it should be just fine.

Well, you can buy the ####-on-open kit, but personally, I don't like them, as they usually need a lot of work to make it properly work. You need to grind parts of the bolt to make it work. Anyways, that's your call.

As for CG63 bolts, yes, and Buffdog pointed that to you in a previous post in this thread. They used stiffer springs and modified the cocking piece to get a shorter lock time and harder strike. Of course, they got rid of the thumb catch projection and shortened the firing pin tail (the same way HVA previously did on their commercial rifles).
That's why I was asking about modifications and on which rifle it was to be fitted on; there will be differences if you used a standard bolt (M/94/96/38) or a CG63 bolt... and that may be why the gunsmith says it won't fit.

I went there today and... Problem solved !!!

The problem was the slot for the trigger on the receiver. It was like 2 times longer than the factory slot.
The top of the sear do not touch anything because it is the widened groove ( slot ) which is above.
I will take a photo tomorrow and post it here.

Solution : make an insert, weld it to the action and re-make the slot with good dimensions. That way I can use any swedish mauser triggers, factory and aftermarket.

After that, he will bed the rifle into the stock, cerakote the whole thing and....voilĂ  !!!

The barrel is cut, recrowned, the headspace is perfect and the custom picatinny is installed.
I plan to *restore* the stock, steam the dings out and finish it with darker dye and many coats of tung oil.

This fall I also bought a scope for this rifle, a Vorter Viper PST 4-16X. The scope can't w8 to meet the rifle :p
I think the final result will be nice... I hope !!!

You can see on the picture how long the slot is, it is almost two times longer than original...
I would like to see what kind of trigger can work with this lonnnnnng slot ?!?!?!

I have no CG 80 or 63 in hands for now.
You may better ask member "Boffdog" as he is collecting and shooting them more than I do.
The sear is moved forward to allow the use of a stiffer spring and a shorter striker travel.

One full year after, the rifle is back from the gunsmith.

Yesterday, I stripped the stock. Today I steamed the kisses out of wood and gave it a light sanding.
The stock is really in good shape ! The wood is really, really nice !

I ordered a Bold trigger from Boyds last week. Need to fit the trigger w/side safety and then I will final sand it and apply dyeing and oil finnish.

Now I need rings for the scope... And good ammunitions !

A bit of grease and dust on that picture.
