A 260 for coyotes? Sounds like fun :D

Unless you're trying to save the pelts :(

Indeed, I'm becomming adept at stitching gaping holes in hides though... This .260 has yet to go out after yotes, but I hunted them with an M77 .243 before and it made a pretty good mess with 85gr  Worst was my marlin .357 with a 158gr Gold Dot loaded to 2200fps. If you ever want to see a massive wound channel and a red highway on snow... :runaway: Pistol bullets at that velocity are absolute hammers on coyotes, unfortunately, they have the ballistics of a turkey.

I'm load developing for my CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39, that's going to be my be all and end all for me I hope. Light, splits the difference ballistically between the 6 and 6.5 and the .357, low recoil and blast. It can really reach with a 154gr Scenar with a BC of .500 too, surprising.

And yes, do tell, what's this VSS going to become? :)

Hahaha, my uncle used to hunt them with 32 cal pistol bullets in his 303. They really made a mess. I've loaded those same 32ACP 85 grainers in a 308 to about 3k, and they're downright explosive. They won't jsut rip a gopher OPEN, they're rip it APART into little meaty chunks

Ain't that the truth, I've seen gophers get garbarated in such fashion a good few times. Instant fragmentation, and outward flying fragments from the centrifugal force of the rifling rotation. Bye bye varmints. Not good for fur bearers though...

this isnt a mountain rifle, its a BDL stainless. Remington had it on their site last year but it appears they dont make it for 2007. They've made them off and on for a number of years, usually in larger cartridges like the Ultra Mags.

i shot a coyote once with a 243 and 100 grain factory ammo. it made a hole that i could put my fist in.

although to be fair, a 22 k-hornet with a 40gr v-max did almost the same thing.

243

Despite the nay sayers, the 243 is a very good little cartridge all on its own.
For those who say it's a ghey cartridge, I seriously doubt that you would want to be shot in the ass with one.
