New acr bushmaster nr

I gave Bushmaster a call, asking them about the longer barrel length.

Supremely unhelpful- no eta for availability, I swear I could hear the rep. shrugging indifferently over the phone line.

so, looks like a custome barrel is the only option for now.
 
The 6.8 cal 18.5" barrel and bolt is currently listed in their catalog of ACR accessories, you just can't buy it. Right now even the americans can't get accessory barrels or parts. I really have my doubts about them ever making a legal for us .556 barrel. The fact that it happens to be 18.5" in length is encouraging though, maybe someday....

That's what I meant. The availability of spare parts has been a running joke in both countries for years now.

That's where I lost interest in the rifle for now.

Need a part that happened to break? Too damn bad, go buy another rifle and hang out with your $3000 paperweight.

I'd be hopeful that warranty could at least get you parts in case of total failure, but I'm sure most rifle owners keep an availability of parts kits in order to not have to send in for warranty on a $20 consumable part. The ball continues to be dropped on the ACR.
