New Brunswick PRS style matches

Hi Mark, will there still be a match October, 14 in Gagetown?

Is anyone else planning to go?

The October match has tentatively been moved to October 21 due to some scheduling issues. I’ll update the original post. I’m also trying for a different range on base. We’ll see what happens.

I forgot to bump the post before the last match. Weather was great, sunny and not too windy. Turnout was a bit low, but lots of new faces which is good to see. I only got a couple pics.

Sounds great, that location looks awesome!!

I will plan for Oct. 21 please us updated if the date changes, I'm pushing hard to make this match but it's hard with my schedule.

Is the match scheduled for the 21st confirmed? Hoping to be there, just wanting to make sure of the date so I can get time off work

The match for Oct 21 is now confirmed. Just found out this weekend range control has approved our range request. I’m looking for volunteers if anyone is curious but doesn’t want to shoot it.

I don’t have the cof confirmed yet, but I’m planning for 7 stages with 2 minute time limits, round count around 65 rds. I’ll post directions to the range as we get closer to the date. This will be a rain or shine event, I don’t have a rain date.

If you have any questions post them up and I’ll try and answer them.

Another great day shooting. I sure love the lever that moves the Mag ring on that Delta Scope. I hope I can remember this method of shooting off the tank trap it was pretty solid

Thank you I look forward to it any idea how many rounds I will need and if there’s any thing else I need like rangefinder

I’ll try and answer a few of your questions.

The match fee is $20 for any member of a provincial rifle association, $25 for non members of pra’s. The easiest way to get involved is just show up. The match will be held on E2 range in Enniskillen, near Camp Petersville. It’s exit 51(I think) off the #7 between Saint John and Oromocto. I’ll post more detailed instructions when we get closer to the match.

Right now I’m planning for 8 stages with a round count for the day around 80. It’s a good idea to bring extra ammo just in case. Each stage will have a time limit and round count limit.

If you have a spotting scope please bring it, the more glass we can have on target, the better it is for everyone. If nothing else, it’s better to watch when you can actually see down range. Bino’s work too. Range finders are welcome. I will attempt to have accurate ranges, but it’s nice to be able to double check. Most of the stages will be under 800m, but at least 1 stage will stretch out to 1000m.

Things you should bring are:

An accurate zero for your rifle and an idea of your DOPE/come ups/elevation changes for 300m-1000m
Snacks, water, warm clothes, rain gear. October can be chilly in the training area and this will be a rain or shine event.
Any shooting gear you think you’ll need.

If you have any questions you can post them up or pm me.

Mark

Sry I meant provincial rifle association is that like a gun club I’m a member of the ryley brook gun club

PRA’s are the provincial organizations that help organize and run some of the shooting programs within the provinces. In NB it’s the Royal New Brunswick Rifle Association(RNBRA). The RNBRA is the organization which helps us access and use the ranges on CFB Gagetown.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I am aiming to come to the shoot on 21st and I have minimal kit, i.e. rifle and ammo. Reading the rule book I see that mag changes are required but I only have 1 3 round mag for my rifle, is this going to present a problem?

Most stages are 6-10 shots(at least based on last time); you might want to invest in a spare mag, or get practiced with single loading from a belt or something.

What type of rifle/magazine do you have? Depending on what it is, someone might have one of the same and be willing to let you borrow a mag
