New Digweed video

How many shooters in the Olympics? How many at a ISSF GP? You have to qualify and if your country does not qualify a spot you can be the best but won't shoot an Olympic. Many of the FITASC GP have 800 plus shooters. The Euros can have 1200. The World have had 1200 plus. Targets at these events are not repeatable and will never been seen again. I am saying for both the sporting events and compak. The target difficulty is so much higher than any of the Olympic shotgun targets. Richard Faulds MBE (he did not buy it) did get a medal at the Olympics but has since only shot sporting and compak. At this US National tied for HOA. Over 2000 guns were at the US Nationals and not one Olympic shooter. GD got his MBE for his charitable work. He does golf and cricket charity events and good at both! The golf tournament in in Portugal raised some 200K BSP. A few weeks before this year's world sporting FITASC, George was hit by a car at a charity golf tournament. He still shot the world even if his knee was twice the size and knew that he could not get a podium.

Take a look at the Professional Sporting Clays Ass'n shoots this summer.

Vincent Handcock, who is the best skeet shooter in the Olympics isn't even in the running for top spot in sporting clays.

And I see a lot of so called sporting clays shooters that can barely manage a 20/25 on the skeet field.

We really should be fair. It seems to me that in any top flight match there are 5 or 10 shooters with the ability to win. But when you see a record in which someone wins consistently in this kind of company you are looking at someone who is special whether you like what he does or not. It also takes dedication and really hard work to get even close to that and when a person actually gets there they have something else too. In something like sporting clays I think someone like Digweed with his record, which is so awesome it makes me think he might be an alien, would have little difficulty shining in any kind of shotgun sport. He might have to work at one or two of them, of course. But I doubt this would surprise him at all and I have no doubt of the outcome. That isn't taking anything away from other shooters and specialists could win on any given day outside sporting clays. They just aren't doing it in sporting clays at the world level and they haven't for quite some time. The only hope seems to be that he will get old just like the rest of us. Just my $0.02 worth. Did I mention that he won the only two World All Round Championships? Which included American and Olympic trap and skeet. He won his first British skeet championship on his first entry and after a night of heavy drinking. His friends stole his clothes during the night. He shot it with a hangover.

Jeez hnachaj!!! Now I know what I've been doing wrong! I haven't been drinking enough and my friends don't want my clothes either!!! ...lol

As do I.
Have never seen one put together a reasonable run of over 100 straight for example.
But having said that, Skeet is a particular discipline, as is Trap, 5 Stand and Sporting Clays.

To be the best in any of them requires a specialization in that one discipline, IMHO

They are very different games. Skeet and trap are games that require more mental discipline and focus. Setting aside environmental conditions the games are the same everywhere.

Sporting clays requires a more analytical approach as each station is different and no two sporting courses are alike.

I've shot them all and have immense respect for those who can shoot them well but sporting clays is the game that keeps me coming back.

Actually FITASC Sporting is the Crème de la Crème of clay target shooting as it is the closest to bird hunting (some times) and one will never see the same targets. EVER! Hungary next year!

Where's his gold medals in skeet and double trap? The fact is, the best shooters in the world are in the Olympics. You forget she has two gold medals in double trap and one in skeet and and NSSA world championship at age 13.

George won a leg of the double trap World Cup in the late 90s. He also won the UK national skeet with a record score in the early 90s (from memory it was something like 500 straight including the shoot off).

And I see a lot of so called sporting clays shooters that can barely manage a 20/25 on the skeet field.

I have a buddy who averages 96-97 in trap. Has won dozens of PITA provincial and national shoots. He can't even break 50% at sporting clays. Your point is??

Trap and skeet shooters do not do well on sporting clays or FITASC sporting. The best example is the two world Allround which included live birds and George won. Meanwhile I was in the vault looking at my win over 606 that shot skeet, trap and sporting at Montreal Angler and Hunters a many years ago! View point, insertion point, break point!

He has won 23 world sporting clays championship he is the KING of wing shooting. Sportingclays is for real wing shooters best shotgun sport out there skeet and trap are the same targets over and over in sporting you have to use a different tactic for each station. Also George is a hunter not just a target shooter he gets out and hammers birds of all sorts and for that he has my respect.
If lived in England joining his club could make sence.
