oops kimberman i guess i did say that thank you for calling me on that.
i see in the ballistic tables on the ammo boxes alone that i have given up some velocity by stepping down to the 30-06 but from what i am hearing here is that it is a very suitable round for north american game. i dont think i as a shooter will reach out to beyond 250yds unless i am sure i can make the shot and maybe with some practice i will get more confident and be able to shoot out to 500 yds. the nice thing with this gun is i can practice alot more than i was. the 300 i had kicked fiercly and the ammo was prohibitively expensive. this ammo is half the price at least and the gun is supposed to have little or no recoil. so i can really spend some time at the range and get confident with the gun. by the sounds of it the equipment is fine i need to scrutinize my own shooting skills as a more important variable. i hope i have gleened this info correctly.
