NEW ITEM: Dominion Arms Socom 18

I took some close up pics but my camera batteries died before I could photograph post field strip. I will post some more pics tomorrow of the rifle post field strip along with gas plug, piston, etc.

Keep in mind, I have now installed an M14 Doctor Enhanced Bolt Release, M14 Doctor Fluted Recoil Spring Guide, and USGI Spring Kit to this rifle now so the pics do not fully represent a stock rifle.

3 weeks is not unusual to get here, i would say it is the norm, and it is fine with me... JP.

I don't know a lot about the m14, for a small scope which i'm sure lots of guys are doing, what are you using to mount? I see the one at m14.ca the gen 2. Any others/other accessories?

I believe it's a good start for my m14 journey as a newbie.
 
I'm really debating on whether or not I should get one, and I have resisted the urge to buy it in the last few days because I can't see why I would want this rifle other than the simple fact that I want ALL rifles!
On one side, I always want more guns, and I've never fired a m305, so that would be nice, but on the other side, money is tight right now and I don't see the real usefulness of this gun, since I already have a remington 700 tactical in 308. I know they are different, but if I want to go punching paper or hunting, I will probably prefer the remington as it will be more accurate and light than the Norinco. So why everyone wants one and what are you using it for? Is there something special about the M14 platform that makes it impossible to resist? Are they good out of the box, or I will need to pour money into it to make it a good, accurate and reliable shooter?
Help me make a decision please, with useful facts, and not just ''BUY ONE''!!
 
One round of a M-14 and you are hooked, just that special feeling... The last real war rifle built before the Mattel era... JP.
 
Let's see.... It's a copy of a historic semi-auto all-steel battle rifle firing a major caliber. It's probably pretty good right out of the box, but a few easy tweaks will improve it a lot. It's as cheap now as it will ever be, and it's non-restricted...and the more of them there are in private hands, the less likely it will ever be restricted.

If none of that speaks to you...well, I guess you _don't_ need one. I've got two of the shorty M305s and I think I'm gonna order one of these too....
