New Items: M4 Quad Forend; NS522 Match Sporting Rifle

My NS 522 was ordered last Friday and it arrived today! It's a nice gun, well-packed in heavy oil and a bunch of targets thrown in as well.
The barrel has a subtle spiral swirl pattern that is quite different. I like it and am looking forward to seeing it outdoors in the daylight.
The old brochure that CA posted shows an American walnut stock. For $250 I really wasn't expecting walnut and what I got was Chinese Chu wood.
The slot for the bolt handle is pretty rough and the rest of the inletting is similar.
I still have some tung oil left over from refinishing an SKS stock and this could be a project for when the rains of winter start.
The trigger is very crisp and light -I know I'm not supposed to dry fire, but I did.
The trigger group and trigger guard are all metal and nicely finished in a matte black. The safety and bolt release catch were very stiff until the grease residue was rinsed out and everything well oiled.
I would like to know the story behind the "KFS Atanta, GA" engraved on the receiver.
I found a Tasco rimfire scope in the basement. The rings fit the grooves on the receiver, so I'll try to get to the range tomorrow if I can.

Keng's Firearm Specialty Inc. An Atlanta, Georgia firearm importer. Most likely the intended customer for the rifles, before the Clinton import ban went into effect.

Probably the same stories as to why we get all that cheap norinco ammo made in the 90s.
Looking forward to the range report :)

If you have ever handled a Ruger 10/22 target, they have a similar hammer forged rifling barrel profile. It's the way the rifling is made in the bore that gives the outer barrel that profile.
Most manufacturers would then further turn/reduce the barrel and clean up the "spiral" outer surfuce, so really it's a skipped step leaving it as it is ;) Winchester uses hammer forged rifling as well but turn the barrels round after. I kind of like it....it's different.

What's interesting is there's a NS522 with cheapo scope used on GunBroker for 400$ starting bid. From what I've read American .22 Shooters love these rifles.

more pics, quality of finish, quality of parts, and most importantly the new quad rail: how it attaches, is it free float, is it aligned right, etc

No prob, will do. Hopefully it will arrive by the end of next week. I'm still waiting for the email with the EMT instructions.

Just by looking at the net I figured a batch of 522's made it over to Australia and the ones you have show up in the US (both KFS).
I wonder if it is a new batch or the nice vintage gear I keep reading about?

How many did they send you?

p.s. you already have my money

Does anyone know if there is an aperture/peep site setup that would work with this grooved receiver on the 522? I will get a scope later possibly but want a good quality micrometer peep now!

There is no front sight or dovetail for one. You would probably have to get a gunsmith to install iron sights.
