i love my 303 but ........ shes beautiful for a misfit.
No fear on those Barnes TEZ. I’ve shot the 290s up to 2650fps and the 250s well past that in a custom smokeless muzzle loader as well as the 195s in .40 up to 2900fps.Cool idea. Be interesting to see how they hold together with shoulder shots on muley's and black bear. The fast 1 in 10" twist in your No.1 is geared
towards the 250 gr Hornady loads. I run Cast Performance 360gr WLNGC boolits at 1600 fps from my Ruger American Ranch with 16" barrel with
1 in 16" twist . Accurate and with deep penetration for big critters.
I had a Ruger #1 Lipsey Special in 275 Rigby - barrel was 2" longer than my 7x57 1A. I could not get my face down low enough on that stock to use the iron sights on the 275 Rigby - but it seemed to work well with a Leupold scope. Another CGN guy has got it now.275 rigby,..... beautiful.

Your wishes for a new No.1 has been granted by someone on GP. It will only set you back $4000. Firm. He knows what he has. I remember in the not too distant past Wholesale Sports would have sales on them for around $1000.
Petty wood on that one!!The last one I bought was about the same time, a 6.5x55. I never really hunt with it, and with the cost so high, it’s unlikely I’ll ever buy another.

Looks like custom wood on that one!! Really pretty!!My latest acquisition, chambered in the 6mm Remington. I had a JARD trigger installed and have it set at 1.5 pounds, better groups hence the trigger.
