The shipment has arrived and scopes will be sent out over the next couple of days.
I had a chance to look through my 10X50 and am impressed as I am sure all that get their scope will be.
As has been reported by others in the US, the scope does have really nice glass even at 50X. The focus adjustments are quick to use and really allow the image/reticle to get dialed in.
Best part, there was no aparent drop in image quality at all extremes of turrent movement. This scope has 50mins of elev/wind which is plenty for competition and you should enjoy the same image quality whether you start at 300m or end at 1000yds. This was really important to me.
The turrents have 1/8min clicks and feel light and easy to move. This has been a critism by some but I find it a good thing in a competition/target shooting scope. The dials are big/tall and very easy to read. there is no issue seeing and feeling the clicks and the easy movement mean you will not upset you rifle dialing around.
Best part, each revolution is 10 mins - YEAH, no more thinking when dialing up.
The turrents have sturdy caps so movements between relays is not an issue.
I chose the FCH and it is very fine BUT the contrast makes the reticle stand out nicely against the general outdoors. The test will be on a target at distance. There was some mirage yesterday but I was still able to see small details beyond 1000yds.
As with pretty much all high mag scopes, the image resolution does drop slightly at full 50X but dial it back slightly to 45 and then 40X and the image becomes razor sharp.
Now I am not saying the 50X image is bad - it is in fact equal to pretty much every other target scope I have looked through despite their lower top end, it is that the image goes to WOW at slightly lower mag.
Tracking and longevity to be determined.
Sightron has really built on their strengths with each new product and I am sure we will see more and more of these contested during the 2010 season.
Yes, I am bugging to get an ETA on the 8x32's. I will follow up on these and get them out ASAP. Appreciate all your patience.
