New Sightron SIII 10X50-60mm scope and Others for 2010

Unfortunately, I will get way less then the number ordered.

Demand grossly out stripped the most recent batch that arrived. Dist. is on allocation until Sightron can get more on the next shipment.

Frustrating but a good indicator on consumer demand.

There are some reviews on 6mmBR.com.

So far, reports show performance of new scopes similar to the past product.

The shipment has arrived and scopes will be sent out over the next couple of days.

I had a chance to look through my 10X50 and am impressed as I am sure all that get their scope will be.

As has been reported by others in the US, the scope does have really nice glass even at 50X. The focus adjustments are quick to use and really allow the image/reticle to get dialed in.

Best part, there was no aparent drop in image quality at all extremes of turrent movement. This scope has 50mins of elev/wind which is plenty for competition and you should enjoy the same image quality whether you start at 300m or end at 1000yds. This was really important to me.

The turrents have 1/8min clicks and feel light and easy to move. This has been a critism by some but I find it a good thing in a competition/target shooting scope. The dials are big/tall and very easy to read. there is no issue seeing and feeling the clicks and the easy movement mean you will not upset you rifle dialing around.

Best part, each revolution is 10 mins - YEAH, no more thinking when dialing up.

The turrents have sturdy caps so movements between relays is not an issue.

I chose the FCH and it is very fine BUT the contrast makes the reticle stand out nicely against the general outdoors. The test will be on a target at distance. There was some mirage yesterday but I was still able to see small details beyond 1000yds.

As with pretty much all high mag scopes, the image resolution does drop slightly at full 50X but dial it back slightly to 45 and then 40X and the image becomes razor sharp.

Now I am not saying the 50X image is bad - it is in fact equal to pretty much every other target scope I have looked through despite their lower top end, it is that the image goes to WOW at slightly lower mag.

Tracking and longevity to be determined.

Sightron has really built on their strengths with each new product and I am sure we will see more and more of these contested during the 2010 season.

Yes, I am bugging to get an ETA on the 8x32's. I will follow up on these and get them out ASAP. Appreciate all your patience.

Given the demand for these scopes, I cannot get 'extras' for inventory. I can barely get enough for prebooked orders :-(

If you would like a scope, please send me a PM or email and we can work out the details but expect a wait.

More are supposed to be arriving in April so I am hoping to see my orders filled by late April shipment??????

Was able to do some tracking test with the 10X50-60 and it was excellent.

I used a commercial target like the one you see in my banner. each arm is 2" from the center.

I sighted in a group to see how the rifle and I were shooting. Then dialed the elev/windage so the POI would be on each point of the target (adj 2 mins as needed). 1 shot at each corner, and each shot landed exactly where they were supposed to go (given the conditions of the day and shooter).

I repeated on 3 targets and they were bang on each time.

On Monday, I took it out for some LR fun. Again, no issue with tracking and changing from various distances was right on. Image quality was excellent - clear but you could still see the mirage (was an overcast grey day too). The mag was wonderful but for shooting rocks and gongs, I dialed it back down to 30x so that I could spot my own hits out at 800yds. Higher mag was wonderful for looking at the target but I would be bumped off the scope so I couldn't see the impact.

With about 40rds fired, I am very happy with how it is functioning so far. Now to get some time and put it on a paper target and see how that goes. I don't expect any surprises.

I hope that others who have received their scopes can post their thoughts and impressions.

The new Sightron SIII 20x42 arrived in the mail! The scope looks great and even came with a pair of flip open lens covers. The fit and finish look excellent. It was an overcast sky today but it still looked bright through the lens. The target turrets can be felt and heard when rotated. Very pleased with the scope. It will at least a week before I can get to the sand pit to shoot :(
