Newbie Going for Registration

Ya, well, we will see when I actually get the card.

How is your's going?

I called today (day 41 of process), and was told there were no problems and that the application was sent after the final ref interview on the 22nd to the BC CFO soon after (6 days for mailing) so that hopefully means they've probably JUST gotten the file and hopefully will be completed by the end of next week.

Here's to hoping... your situation sure has!

Have you checked the website?

Mine took 17 days from the time they received it, to the time that it showed up as in progress on the website.

When it is registered as received on the website, give the a shout every 3 or 4 days to see if you can get your interviews done.

Good luck!

I've been checking the website but nothing... I guess it's just a waiting game now

I'm hearing more and more that the time lines are growing by the week. My wifes rPal course and mailing was completed 3 weeks behind me. It just showed up today online, received on the 14th. Thats a 21 day wait compared to the 17 day wait I had.

This process will teach you patience.

Or not. :)

Phone them and ask if they have received it.

If they have, then ask them if they have had a chance to look over it.

If they say yes, ask them if there are any issues, and if you can do your interviews.

If no to any of the above, thank them nicely, and call back in 3-4 days.

Some people would suggest to bug them more frequently, but I don't think that makes much sense.

It's a waiting game, you are at their mercy...best to be nice about it and hope things work out quicker than you expect.

Well, my boy want's to go out today to see if there is something worth buying...if I can find a .22 handgun I like...

Looks like the handgun I want is now out of stock everywhere...oh well, let the timeline stop. I picked up a nice Ruger 10/22 takedown...What a beautiful little gun!

I guess either of the Ruger Mk handguns would be good. I might just pick up a Norc M93 because they are cheap.

I have had my heart set on a Tokarev TT33. They were plentiful when I was waiting for my license, but supply has now dried up I will wait for the next batch. Plus you can get a ton of dirty ammo for cheap.

I kind of like the SAM 1911 Military in the stainless as well...good price on those from Wolverine.

As it is...I sent in my application for LTATT last wednesday, I hear that here it can take up to 3-4 weeks. Crazy.

So, I thought I would call the BC CFO's office today...just to see if they had received my fax for the ATT application...

I didn't spend too much time on hold, but then got the canned message to leave my info and they would call back.

About an hour and a half later, a very official man called me from the CFO's office, asked me to verify some information, and then promptly told me that they were on a 4 to 5 week backlog.

In a fairly cordial fashion, I expressed my surprise hearing about such a delay.

He did say there was a huge amount of licenses processed through their office in the last 3 months, and they were trying to clear up the backlog.

He asked me when I sent it in, and I told him last Wednesday. He said to me not to expect it for 3 weeks or so.

I mentioned to him that I was inquiring because there was a revolver I had my eye on, then said that I guess there was not much point at this time, and he agreed.

I took this as there would most likely be a delay in issuing an STATT to get the gun home.

Oh well, I guess I will have some time to do some trigger mods on my 10/22, and maybe buy another long bang stick.

I get excited for my daily mailbox checks even though there isnt a snow balls chance haha its been two weeks tomorrow but one can hope

I am expecting my Long term ATT in one to three weeks, however, I decided to purchase a handgun from a fellow gun nut on the EE.

The seller is transferring it today (25th June)...we will see what happens.

I am hoping I don't have to wait too long to pick it up.

I called the CFC to do my part of the transfer...now we will see how long it takes the CFO to issue a short term transfer in order to pick up my(!) pistola.

Bear in mind that my LTATT is now in the fourth week since i sent in the application.

Do you think it would be a good idea to call after a few days? I am hearing that transfers are taking a week out in God's country.

Well, I guess that the CFO is no longer answering the phone...I spoke to someone in New Brunswick who said that starting today, all calls will be taken by the them until the backlog is cleared. Needless to say, they could not tell me anything about my ATT application or my pending transfer.

I just hope the guy I bought the gun from a week ago remembers who I am when the transfer is completed.

So, this will be my last entry for this thread. I received both the LTATT and STATT on 13 July by mail. Too bad that I was on holidays that week, but no matter. I can now go pick up my toy and hopefully go shooting when I receive my registration card.

It was 91 days from the time they received my license application, to the date that I could pick up my handgun.

I know it was a bit of a trying time during the waiting period, but that is now over.

Happy shooting, and tight groups!
