No Service Rifle @ Mission Gun Club

We could run a course like I did out in Abby to get things going but the problem would be using the whole range.Unless we did it over a couple of evenings.

How does Mission compare to Poco for longer distance rifle?

I am not a mission member, but if there was regular service rifle at Mission, I would be interested in pursuing it.

Mission is 300m which would be excellent for what we need.

Actually it is 300 yards.........I have checked it with a rangefinder.........always wondered why my 300M settings were way off at Vokes compared to Mission.....

Even though I don't currently shoot Service Rifle, I would support a Service Rifle Discipline at Mission.......

A Group of us have been trying to change the "One Round Only" rule for close to 2 years now.........brought it up at the AGM......said it would be looked into and a committee formed to study the issue...............guess what......just like politics, it seems to have been lost in the shuffle..............A lot of the older TR guys do not like people firing more then one round as it disturbs their concentration, and think everyone with an SKS will show up and spray rounds everywhere.............. They have been against the change.........

Good Luck To You on this...........may be worth it to get back into Service Rifle...........:D

Outrider (current pistol chair), myself and Unibomber, as well as some of the other Speedsteel crew, are trying to get this squared away, as well. Got good feedback from Anti during Tac Rifle, as well.
Working on the butts endorsement (need to get a couple of Club 300's down...), have the rundown section partially thought through (yes, it works from the firing point to 100, not so much from the 1-2....), and are working on sourcing repo's for the fig 11 and 12's.
We hope to have something in place for this fall.

Homer, you know I'm in also and will help where I can. I agree that Iain should be farily easy to deal with. This has been needed for a long time to break this club of it's predjudice against semi-auto rifle shooters.

Well, doesn't seem like POCO has a group like this.

I'd like to pledge my backing to this if it materializes. Please add me to the Non-Members List.

I'm a member at Mission and Poco. Normally I shoot semi at Poco and bolt single shot at Mission. When I read this post I thought "Wow ! Service Rifle at Mission sounds like a great idea". There is an issue though - and it is potentially a big deal - Mission doesn't have full time RO's, most of the time it is just a bunch of shooters looking after ourselves and its all nice and relaxed (imagine the exact opposite of Poco), changing the rules could mean it gets out of hand with the uncontrolled crowd I see at Poco showing up and no RO having the authority to shut 'em down. Believe me, I have seen #### at Poco that is just scary and stoopid and I dont want to see Mission go that way but neither do I want the full time RO attitude that Poco has ( and needs to maintain control ) because the great thing about Mission is that it is all safe, sensible and self-policed with serious shooters there to shoot, learn some stuff and have a nice day out.

Not an issue. The "uncontrolled crowd" doesn't shoot service rifle. There is a big difference between someone using an AR and blasting rounds down range with no real gameplan, and someone who is shooting service rifle with aimed shoots that count for score. It kinda like comparing street racers to Indy drivers.Yes they use kinda the same equipment but the skill and dedication are miles apart.
When we shoot SR on Volkes do you think they have full time staff? No its usually competitors running the line.Nothing to be scared of.

I will join as a full member and am very interested in this. I am 100% serious. Will join immediately if this goes through. I shoot a Swiss Arms classic green.

I live in Vancouver and am currently a member of Abbotsford and also Silvercore. I had wanted to join Mission but heard about the 1 bullet per magazine rule and well, that ended that.

I don't do super rapid fire - its a waste of bullets for me anyways. Feel free to PM me etc if you need anything to help with this.

I am not a Mission member, but I took Longshot's clinic last spring and shot Service (poorly :) ) at Volkes in the summer. I would be interested in shooting Service Rifle at mission more regularly, and if Ryan runs another Clinic (hopefully with more practice out to 200 or 300 yards) I'll sign up.
