Non restricted ACR coming to canada finally!!

I'm gonna be "THAT GUY" here, but the price is way out of line.

Plastic, injection-moulded, commercially mass-produced 5.56 for over $2,000? I object.

I'm not absolutely current on the ACR, so I admit I can be wrong here. That being said it looks like the gas adjustment at the front of the piston is different from previous models. I wonder what, if any, changes there are to the piston and if it's "new design" or just looks different?

Good, more for the rest of us.
I have a restricted version with a 12.5 inch barrel and am very impressed with the build quality. Fit and finish is nice and the action is surprisingly smooth. Really easy to take down and easy to maintain gas system.
Now I just need a day off work when it isn't snowing and I'll know how it shoots :D

There appears to be quite a lot of misinformation regarding this rifle, so we will tell everyone what we know based on "official" information we have received.

The rifle is not a Canadian specific model. It is the DMR version of the ACR, that just happens to meet the specifications for it to be classified as non restricted. That is, it has a 18.6" barrel. The Canadian market is so small, compared to the US, that no one up here had enough influence to persuade Bushmaster to produce one just for the Canadian market. If they did, it would have a folding stock, and a lightweight 18.6" barrel. It is also initially only being produced in .223Rem, and in black.

The rifle is being imported by the Canadian Bushmaster distributor, Gravel Agencies. Every dealer who is advertising these rifles for pre-sale, has ordered them from Gravel Agencies. We were the first dealer in Canada to place an order for them, and we have been informed by Gravel that we will be receiving the first shipment that arrives in Canada. Actually, we have been told that we got a little ahead of ourselves by announcing them here on CGN first, as the official release of this product will be at the SHOT Show in a month from now.

The rifles are expected to arrive in Canada direct from Bushmaster by early in the second quarter of 2014, and are currently being advertised for pre-order by all dealers at $2799, which is fairly competitive, considering that the US MSRP will be US$2800, and Bushmaster will probably be able to sell every rifle they can produce.

There will be other ACR products and accessories announced at SHOT, and these will become available during the course of 2014.

Regards.

By this logic AR15s must really suck!!!
Ir you are regularly replacing worn and broken parts to keep it running, yes I agree they suck. Now I can understand parts have a service life intended by the manufacturer (which is usually thousands of rounds) but when they are changed due to failure with only a fraction of their life used you have to agree there is a problem.

4000 rounds through my ACR and not a single part has been replaced.

That photo doesn't look like a production ACR, so I wouldn't put too much stock in the details. There is no brass deflector, correct take-down pins, flash hider or QD sling cups which are all present on the production models.

Yeah people need to stop sharing the wrong picture here, the incoming DMR might be similar, but this ain't it.
not a single dealer posted one because there isn't any out yet.

Very interesting...I was hoping for a NR ACR with a standard profile barrel and a folding stock...but happy none the less. Oh, and an optional 300blk barrell...

If I could ever afford this thing I would consider it. I look forward to reading first hand experiences here and seeing it on the range!
