There appears to be quite a lot of misinformation regarding this rifle, so we will tell everyone what we know based on "official" information we have received.
The rifle is not a Canadian specific model. It is the DMR version of the ACR, that just happens to meet the specifications for it to be classified as non restricted. That is, it has a 18.6" barrel. The Canadian market is so small, compared to the US, that no one up here had enough influence to persuade Bushmaster to produce one just for the Canadian market. If they did, it would have a folding stock, and a lightweight 18.6" barrel. It is also initially only being produced in .223Rem, and in black.
The rifle is being imported by the Canadian Bushmaster distributor, Gravel Agencies. Every dealer who is advertising these rifles for pre-sale, has ordered them from Gravel Agencies. We were the first dealer in Canada to place an order for them, and we have been informed by Gravel that we will be receiving the first shipment that arrives in Canada. Actually, we have been told that we got a little ahead of ourselves by announcing them here on CGN first, as the official release of this product will be at the SHOT Show in a month from now.
The rifles are expected to arrive in Canada direct from Bushmaster by early in the second quarter of 2014, and are currently being advertised for pre-order by all dealers at $2799, which is fairly competitive, considering that the US MSRP will be US$2800, and Bushmaster will probably be able to sell every rifle they can produce.
There will be other ACR products and accessories announced at SHOT, and these will become available during the course of 2014.
Regards.
