Non restricted black rifles

No not trolling and thanks for a actual answer. Yes again I didn't know assault meant fully auto. My next best word was gonna be machine gun looking gun lol once I got all the jokes I stared googling. Tactical is better choice of word. And since then I found lanz shooting supplies they have a few models norinco 97, and a just right carbine. Both are in a 223 caliber which is all I'm looking for. Light recoil cheap ammo and flat shooting at 200 yards and less which realistically ill never do more with that. Are these decent models?

Yes I'm a noob to this sort of ####. I never even googled one in my life until last weekend shooting the cz. Not sure the model but looked like a mini ak47. I am not at all a noob with guns. My scope of knowledge is hunting firearms and calibers. I've reloaded for years and hunted forever. Just honestly never had any interest in these guns until I got bitten by the bug firing my friends. So again I apologize for "assault" I had no idea it meant I was crazy and wanted a 50 cal anti aircraft machine gun
 
On a serious note now that weve confirmed you arent a reporter in disguise id look into pre ordering a norinco type 97. Bullpup configuration so its a short package. It takes ar mags and fires .223 wich can be had for reasonable amounts. Canam has it priced at 850 wich is a great price for a modern design.

Agreed.

But the price tag for average to good rifles to be so high simply because of our atrocious firearms market (thanks to our retarded gun laws) simply because they look like an AR and are non restricted makes them too expensive for what you get out of them in my opinion.

It's a damned shame really when you could have one of the all time great designs like the AR15 out in the bush for under $1K if not for our damned laws.

That being said I have actually shot all of the rifles I listed and I really like the AR180 in all aspects over any of the others but it pains me to know that every time I pull the trigger, I'm wearing down that much closer to ending the life span of a rifle that has no surplus parts or service anymore :(

It's a terrible, depressing, inevitable dance we go through every trip out to the bush or range lol Ever closer every time........

To answer your question, yes there are a number of non-restricted military-style rifles available in Canada. They include the Swiss Arms Classic Green/Black Special, Rob Arms XCR, HK SL8, Armalite AR-180B-2, Tavor, and a number of others. It is also possible to have a restricted by barrel length firearm such as the ACR, FN PS-90, etc..., re-barreled and have it reclassified to non-restricted status. I suggest you search this forum's older threads as the same question comes up very regularly.

I do again apologize and honestly never knew that. I use this same screen name on multiple Canadian hunting sites and have thousands of posts on them. I'm not just starting trouble. I really didn't know it was a swear word. As you said the media uses that word hence why it's the one I used as I'm u educated with these weapons.

Don't sweat it. Us black rifle folks get a little defensive when we hear the term "assault rifle". Lately our beloved black rifles have been maligned a bit more than usual. Plus you are relatively new on CGN so when you ask the question the way you did, people are going to suspect you of being an anti, hence the "Wendy" comment (referencing wendy cukier). And lastly, that question gets asked pretty much weekly here. So you kinda hit the trifecta of annoying black-rifle posts! ;).
I'm sure you will get some helpful answers shortly. In the mean time, try using the search feature and make sure you set the search time parameters to a few months...it defaults to only searching the previous two weeks.
 
It is just that the word "assault" isn't an accurate definition of an firearm.

There are sporting arms and target arms and hunting arms and competition arms.

Assault is an act of an individual upon another and it implies that is what one wants to do with it.Not a good definition of any firearm due to the fact that anybody can assault anyone with any object or any type of firearm(rifles, hammer, golf club , etc.....)

That is why IMO it doesn't sit well with firearms owners.I personally don't like the use of the term either.

Military firearms are a totally separate entity as well not available to civilians which I don't believe should be called assault either.

Tactical "look" is probably the best bet as to not get into warm water.

Ya these brands I've never even heard of. I own sako 85 Bavarian tikka t3 browning blr white gold medallion. These brands you guys are bringing up I know zero about. So hence why I'm here.

The norinco I am not impressed with where the magazine sits. I'm assuming everyone wrote off the just right brand? I also found on the same site a kel tec su 16. Also 223. ???

My budget I'd like to be 1500 or less.

Now another question. I am a accuracy nut. I posted in the other thread after seeing these guys customize there long range rifles as well. I love that. How would these types of rifles compare to for instance my tikka t3. Could any of these guns achieve sub moa accuracy or am I trying to mix two sports?
 
Oh and ya back to the mini 14. Is there a story with this as well? Someone made mention about me saying that. It's a nice looking gun but only in the tactical version. Prohibited?
 
Assuming you want semi-auto for sure then to get consistent and repeatable accuracy is going to get very expensive.

Did you look at bolt action also?

I always give people the benefit of the doubt on here.

Just because a person isn't some anti social shut in with 10,000 posts on CGN doesn't mean he's automatically a troll or deserves to be hammered by other members.

I love guns but outside of military surplus firearms with iron sights and retro AR15's I don't know jack sh*t about scopes, optics, tactical junk, reloading, competition shooting, in depth ballistics etc etc I really don't know all that much at all.

Also as you mentioned the KelTech SU16, I have not shot one yet but handled one that belonged to a friend of mine.

It might be just what you're looking for. They aren't that outrageously priced compared to some other offerings.

Very light weight, very well balanced, handled well, has that black scary look to it. It's 95% plastic though.

I hear they shoot about on par as with any semi auto rifle in .223 lol Good enough is the term I use ;)
 
Yes honestly I did. I started going on this "sniper rifle" chase. I came to the self realization that my tikka t3 is mounted with a bushnell 4x32 scope with turrets. In Ontario and where I do my shooting. Anything more then 300-400 yards is impossible for me to actually set up safely. I shoot great groups with this hunting gun so this tactical version I can't see how much benefit it will give me. Unless I move to Alberta and shoot in the mountains at 1000 yards. So then I took my "I need a new gun" itch into these very friendly black guns lol

When you say accuracy suffers, how bad? Can I nail potatoes set up 150 yards away all day?
 
I'd give the Benelli MR1 a look. It's not a military style rifle strictly speaking, but still a worthy firearm for 223, and considered fairly accurate.

By the way, you mentioned a JR Carbine in 223.... I didn't think that existed. AFAIK they make them only for handgun calibres, which limits their usefulness for hunting.

It might be right up your alley. It's like a hunting rifle sneaked out of the gun locker at night to have ### with an AR15/AR180 and had a bastard child lol

It may be what you're looking for. I would say handle one first before you commit though as they are made from almost entirely plastic.
