Norc 1911 9mm, M14, CSA Compact, PPS50

When you guys originally get it, will a basic field strip and clean do? Or do I need to detail strip it?

I did the basic field strip,
but if I had of been able to get to the range, right away,
just a surface wipe down and it would have been ready to go.
Barrel was clear.

It would run just fine taking it out of the package and shooting. Most will do a basic field strip and wipe away the cosmoline and oil/lube. Some will detail strip, but its not absolutely necessary before shooting it the 1st time.

Thanks for that, both of you. I have no idea how to detail strip this thing. I get mine on Monday so a basic field strip it is. I like cleaning my firearms, but that detail strip from your review Luke looks overwhelming.

The detail strip looks everwhelming but it is just about practice. There are plenty of you tube vids showing how to do it, and I watched those several times before attempting it. Can't say I wasn't freaked out doing it the 1st time either

My np29 went to the range today and i`am impressed functioned perfectly sites were dead on.Shot one round and checked the brass these were my reloads for the taurus pt 99 i used to own, 6.4 grns of hs-6 col 1.125 as you can see from the targets it shoots pretty good. the trigger was better than i expected but the mags need some work the springs are strong making the mags hard to load and the followers catch on the edge of the mag when loading.Ithink i`am going to like this pistol

Second time at the range for my NP29.
Slide stays back everytime after clip is empty, using factory loads.
Not always, when using light handloads.
Extended mag release is just a screw on extention, that fell off today.
It's staying off, looks better now, IMO.
What's left is a smaller knurled button. More like the original 1911A1

Some of my Norc mags would only accept 4 rounds. Found the problem and the solution. The front right corner of the follower binds on the inside of the mag and snags on the square notch in the mag.

The easy way to work on the follower is to remove it. The floor plate is welded in place.

Push the follower down part way with a pencil and then push a small screw driver or piece of wire through the holes, from side to side.

Then the follower can be pulled out.

The front right part of the follower is binding lightly in the mag and then snags on the square notch. If about 1 mm of material is removed from the front and right of the follower, it won't bind or snag.

If you don't want to take follower out, a small file can be used to remove the material.

The mags now load just fine.

If you are waiting to get to the range, try loading your mags. If they accept only 4 rounds, this is the fix.
