NORC 223/556 ammo jamming up my Norc 10.5 inch AR

I blasted some norc 223 yellow box today and had the bolt lock up a tiny bit before full battery. I was actually able to pull the trigger but the round didnt go off. It was a ##### to clear but when I got it apart I saw a tiny little mark on the primer, dunno why it happened but I think I'll attribute it this norc ammo

Ps how are you doing man?

So I guess you finally went ahead with bought half of it from someone else?

Sorry for the confusion, but what I meant was there are few people here and plus Canada Ammo asked the people who posted here with the problem about their lot #, but so far only one responded. Canam was trying to see if they bought the ammo from them and see if the problem exist only on certain lot. I think it is reasonable effort to root out the issue. I suspect that since only one person responded with the lot# and Canam also said that so far no one contacted them directly about similar issue then it could be Norinco ammos that were bought from different stores, or just simply people trying to bad mouthing Norinco ammos due to how good of a deal they are.

Just my observation and not necessarily the fact.

Thats a solid point. I never replied with my lot number, because i dont know what it was. My Norc Ammo was in a spam can and i got rid of the tin as soon as i opened it. Now i just have the paper bundles in a ziploc container.

Out of curiosity..what mfg is that bolt carrier?...

If your refering to the pic i posted, its an NEA.

So i sent my upper back to NEA just to have them look at everything, and they said besides the broken firing pin, everything checked out ok. As for the pin, they suspected that it might have been just a hair to long. This makes sense, as a pin thats to long would go further into the primer and weaken the metal. this could easily result in the little chunks being blown back into the BCU. Im hoping that ill have clear sailing once i get it back with the new pin.

Any white box left, cauz the lot number is also on the boxes ?

Yup....I thought the same thing with the firing pin in my carrier, though I replaced it with a US made firing pin before a range trip..NEA mfg as well...hmmmmm..

There were no "boxes" inside the spam can. The rounds were literally wrapped in bundles of 40 with paper.

There was some pieces of cardboard used to separate the bundles, but there was nothing printed on them?

Oh, I see...
This is what I got in my spam cans :

Launched another 100 or so CJ 95 at the range today...not.. a single issue,..and accurate to 100M....good enough for plinking.. I guess it's probably small batches of this ammo that is suspect...

I've been shooting the Norc stuff for years with no problems through a number of different guns - no problems so far. I'll definitely be keeping a closer eye on things, though!

Yeah, I've used Norc ammo before as well, but just .308 and .45acp....this will be my first time with the 5.56. Crossing my fingers and hope I got a good batch.

Tried out my CJ 95 (60 rounds) and it worked just fine. Before firing it I checked the rim size and none were larger than spec. However, I did notice the OAL varied somewhat so I put each round through my press to ensure a consistent OAL (i.e. the OAL of the shortest CJ95 rounds and we are talking about 7 thousandths ).

Thanks to this tread I will be inspecting each of the 1120 rounds prior to firing. This I would recommend to anyone having concerns with it.

Went out Saturday and popped off about 100 or so rounds out of my 10.5" Norc and my 20" Colt.. no jams or misfires in either gun this trip.. I did have several blown primers in both rifles, but i guess the pieces didnt get caught up in the bolts. Nowhere near as many primer pops as the previous trips.. i may have moved into a different lot at this point.. Its the ammo.

The ammo is the problem ... I have shot lots CJ 95 that i bought about 8 months ago in the Tavor , Swiss Arms , and 4 different ARs and had issues with all , they all run other brands and reloads flawless .. Main problem is primers pop out and jam up the action especially in ARs and really bad in SBRs .. The Swiss Arms has the least issues with it because it has such a beefy action but did have a primer jam up the trigger group .. The primer pockets are a bit to big in the brass , try to reload the brass and you will see that the primers seat too easy and dont seem in the pocket tight enough .

So the conclusion from this particular posting is that the bulk Norinco ammo (.223) from Canada Ammo is a hit /miss?

I was at a wholesale sports store the other day and they were selling the same crates for $389.99. I asked a staff that worked in the firearms area if he had any opinion regarding the bulk ammo. His response was its as reliable as any other ammo that are on his shelf??? He could have simply said "I'm clued out so i don't have an answer".
