Yeah Karl, your barrel coating looks way better than someone else's previous post where things looked odd. Hope mine look the same as yours. Did both look that good?
Hi again Canthitathing... I have a "feeling" that the majority of these 1911s are in pretty decent shape. I saw only the one example of an uneven barrel
that someone posted, and one pretty rough frame and slide - these I think are the exception rather than the rule. I *am* sure that each will require some minor
fitting and polishing to make them more comfortable, if not more reliable. Mine had the recoil spring plunger seized into the slide, and was a bugger to get
loose. The barrel bushing is sticky as well. I may just replace those with something from Brownell's rather than grind, file, sand, polish and re-blue! LOL
My other one is still vacuum - packed and secreted away for a while. I looked to make sure the grips were intact, (they are) and hid the box in the bottom
of my safe. I selected the higher serial number to play with first - (9036XX) and left the earlier one (9025XX) to mellow, so I have no opinion yet on
its internals.
Have you been following the "Other 1911s" threads on the 1911 Forum? There are some UGGGGGLY "other" 1911s out there!! In the $400 to $1,000 range, too!
We are so lucky to have had this deal fall into our reach!!! $170 for a ROCK SOLID 1911!!! And USGI compliant, too!!! (As far as I can tell!)

OH - P.S. The barrel appears to me to be "in the white." Machined after forging, but no finish applied.
