Hi there
I hate to be a bearer of bad news but I was at my local dealer, he was saying the CFO in bc is 6 weeks behind on transfers. I guess it is so bad the CFO in sask is trying to help out. The dealer has a pistol sitting on the shelf for 4 weeks and hasn't got approval to ship to a customer in bc. I just wanted to maybe alleviate the anxiety of when you will get your email. Cheers

That's their normal transfer time 4 to 6 weeks . Some go through quicker but most don't .
I recently finally got the E-mail from CanadaAmmo that my transfer has been submitted in bulk .
So a month after ordering I should only have one more month to go .
But I'm not holding my breath .

Well... My only concern is that I will be traveling in 3 weeks for 3 weeks... Hopefully it will not be shipped when I am away... Would be great to get it within next 3 weeks, but if not - what would be my options ?

I would say you are cutting it close . When your transfer is finally approved it still is taking a week or more for the combo to be shipped according to several people who have posted here. You could try to ask Can Ammo to hold shipping till you're back

Just got home 1am. took the 1911 out of the packing for a quick look,,,wiped it off with a paper towel not that much grease,,what a beauty, not a scratch, blueing is really nice. She is tight, light trigger, grips are in one piece( new ones coming though). what a fantastic pistol, cant wait to clean it up and fire it! Pics as soon as I can! All you guys waiting will not be disappointed! I believe another one must be ordered!

Fit and finish seems great--but what do I know? Not much. All the controls work easily. Trigger isn't bad. The edges are less sharp than my recently purchased Ruger 22/45 (bolt on that is sharp). Blueing is so-so.

In the absence of a definitive method of cleaning I:

Field stripped and removed grips (using the surprisingly well written manual which is nicely plasticated)
Soaked all parts in boiling water and thoroughly wiped down with blue shop towels, twice
Parts were HOT when I wiped them down, they dried immediatley
I decided that there may be water trapped in the firing pin area on the slide or the trigger, hammer or msh of the frame so I soaked those parts in kerosene
I doused the entire thing in Hoppes bore snake oil-- how much do I use? I think I used 1/3 of the little bottle. Should I let it soak overnight and wipe down with a soft cloth?

I apologize for the uneducated questions however there are more opinions than aholes on Google regarding this. Kerosene, gasoline, boiling water, PMU...

Just got off the phone with the Ontario CFO; my transfer submitted on May 21st was in their system as of May 23rd, and the transfer has been approved. Now it's your turn Canada Ammo, ship my 1911!

Placed the order for my 2nd on the 17th, CC was charged on the 23rd and transfer was submitted today, the 28th.

Thats 11 days from the initial order to the beginning of the transfer process. NOT BAD AT ALL.

Maybe Can-Am knows, via mental telepathy, who the arse holes are and leaves their orders till last on purpose. hehe. My first order took quite a bit longer than this one and after receiving it, it was well worth the wait. This order has been nothing to complain about for sure.

I placed my 2nd on may 18, and cc charged 27th. 1st one took exactly 1 month from order to arrival

seems like its all random really......

Ordered on the 24th, payment processed on April 30. Transfer initiated on May 15. I called CFC today and got confirmation that the transfer was approved (Ontario) last week, but have not had a status update yet from Canam. Still shows "awaiting approval before shipping" on the Canam status page. Will continue plinking with .22 for now ...

Got a shipping notice on May 23 that said CanPar picked up the parcel on May 22. Saw on the CanPar tracking site that they tried to deliver it today (May 28) but no-one was home. Dang! Will have to wait until tomorrow when my wife will be home all day. So assuming it arrives tomorrow, it will be a bit over a month from when I ordered on April 24.

Mine came from india (now that I looked it up), seller historicalreenactors

The item description was "WW2 US army m1911/m1911a1 colt/Luger wood handle grips reproduction"

I should mention, I did soak my grips in linseed oil, they're we lighter in color before.

Very nice. I have the Norc 1911a1c and I like it. It has never given me a problem nor have I ever worried about it giving me one. I wish I could have gotten in on this for 2 of them. IMO if the AR-15 is the Barbie for men then the 1911 must be her convertable as they seem to go together and both are cutomizable. :)
