FWIW, I cycled about 50 snap caps through my gun tonight and every one fed and ejected correctly. Not a single issue. ^^ I do agree... its one heavy beast. Only upgrade I think ill do is a full length guide rod. Other than that, I want it simple and chunky so it lasts forever.

Why do the grips on yours look black?
Other CGNer's look to be brown?
Is it the lighting or did you get something special?

I finally had a chance to clean her up and man, this gun is in excellent condition. Only a few MINOR scratches on the frame. I am absolutely not unhappy.

To clean it, I soaked disassembled the gun and put all the parts in boiling water. Then took them out, wiped them down. Anything with moving parts or places I couldnt get to I sprayed down with brake clean. Dried it all again and sprayed it down with gun cleaner/lube and wiped it down again. I wanted to make sure it was well coated and wouldnt normally use this much oil.

The gun is definitely a bit notchy to run empty. But it functions flawlessly. The mags are only stiff going in because they need to compress the spring. They literally shoot out when hit the release. Not sure how they'll feel loaded. Im going to run some snap caps through it and see how things go.

I did NOT like the stock grips so I put a fab defence grip/magwell on it. Looks great and makes loading the mag very fast. BUT... the mags have a very thin bottom plate and the magwell extends past the bottom of the frame so im going to need something on the bottom of the mags to extend them a bit.

Heres the pics of it cleaned up. Only took about an hour.

LOL I love the pictures as well and I know that everyone has been putting up the same old pictures so when mine comes (and if you have seen any of my posts) the pictures that ill be posting will make you go WTF did I just see oh boy I cant wait.

My email arrived at 1:03 am

The serial number provided precedes those shown in recently posted pics.

I'm guessing they're pulling from a host of different crates when processing these orders..

just received mine overall. i am happy with the finish of the gun and the tightness of the slide.

Thank you CanAm for making me spend money.

By popular demand, my deboxing:

I have since swapped the grip panels for wood ones. Just from handling, the sticky coating is gone from all external parts. Internals were quite clean so I suspect mine did not get a proper soaking. No signs of corrosion, no scratches. The fit/finish is equal to my parkerized Norinco 1911A1 purchased from another CGN dealer two years ago.

Well CANPAR safe dropped my gun and ammo on my porch with no signature. I arrived home from work and found that my family member, who came to let the dog out, had moved my ammo inside. There was no gun to be seen. SH!T!!!!! Thought for sure the gun was stolen or CANPAR didn't deliver it. Got up in the morning and found the gun in the fridge. I guess mom was concerned that the box, Canadammo had packed the gun in, said "keep refrigerated" on it. THANK GOD it's here and not stolen.

Canpar was notified to have their douchebag driver not sign random signatures and leave FIREARMS AND AMMO sitting on people's porches.

Amazingly, I got the registration certificate in the mail today for my 1911... I still dont have one for my Glock 21 ive had for well over a month. (just the one they emailed to me). Crazy. Someone must have gone to work at the CFO office last week on a mission.

Can par delivered them yesterday! 2 pistols, 2000 rnds of ammo, 6, ammo cans, 2 bolo knifes and a couple of other misc bits!

On club night too what are the chances!

Both of the ones I received are un blemished, packed in hardened sticky chineese paste.

I broke one down to the itty bittys, dropped into the ultra sonic for 30 min. Greased and lubed it. I just had enough time to grab a quick bite of supper then it was off to the club.

I had forgotten how rough and gritty the nork trigger pull could be, I have a few norks but they all have been tuned. As I assumed the stock mags are poo. All in I ran 16 mags through the pistol last night, a total of 120rnds, mixed nork ammo and reloads. Feeds and functions fine. One big hole at 7y, 12" at 25y. The large group at 12y I believe is more due to the fact that the trigger is poor than anything else.

I was in such a rush last night I didn't take a single pic......

Cheers!

Mine arrived today, two days earlier then CanPar said.

I haven't cleaned it yet but it looks great so far, nice enough bluing, no cracked grips (though I will be replacing them anyways.. by the way "Authentic Norinco grips" going on to EE. $170, don't settle for broken grips or knockoffs get the real deal.)

It is sooo sticky, couldn't possibly be grease or cosmoline. After careful analysis I have determined it could only be, and I am relatively certain about this, the Norinco employee who packed it had just eaten, with his bare hands, pancakes with syrup and then he proceeded to fondle my gun for at least 45 minutes. This is the only plausible explanation for how sticky it is.

I must say though, I am very pleased so far! Thanks CanAm!

or were you so excited that you got it that you had trouble containing yourself?? ;-)
