Since some Gunnutz apprently get their hands on their Type 97 already, why they've yet to write-up a detailed review of it?
What are you talking about?

Perhaps, the market is pretty much saying no to a Norinco over 1000 - people are thinking 800 dollars range, but people are spending the obscene amount of $3000 too. I would go to $1200, but with seven mags, bayonet, cleaning kit, sling, pouches. The idea is that one purchase covers it all and we're not nickled and dimes afterward for more stuff. I would consider optics as an extra I'd pay for, but maybe $150 more, optics and mount.
The "regular" military price from Norinco direct is $450USD. There is not much money to be made for a 800 price tag if they pay the "regular" price. However, if they can get cheap yellow box 223 norinco ammo ( PLA is not at WAR) to back up the rifles, there will be incentive to cut the $1000 line.
So, 5.8 it is. And two crates and a shtload of mags. Ammo at 5 cent a pop and we are talking. We should get the LMG type for non restricted.
The Type 97 is a poor mans black rifle, and it doesn't need to be pimped out like an AR-180b to make it cool. It's already a bullpup. Good enough for me.
I do not believe China will allow the sale of 5.8.
Actually it is a very sophisticated modern black rifle.
