norinco-97

Well, the Cambodians have them. How about us!?

Perhaps, the market is pretty much saying no to a Norinco over 1000 - people are thinking 800 dollars range, but people are spending the obscene amount of $3000 too. I would go to $1200, but with seven mags, bayonet, cleaning kit, sling, pouches. The idea is that one purchase covers it all and we're not nickled and dimes afterward for more stuff. I would consider optics as an extra I'd pay for, but maybe $150 more, optics and mount.

You might be on to something there...

Buy we can buy an M305 for $400. I think $1200 is a bit too much.
$1000 for that entire kit sounds more like it. That isn't a price for this year, but for 2008. For 2007 I'd say $900 would be proper.

I've never seen one so I can't comment on fit and finish...but I'd say $1000 for a kit would be a good spot.

Sure, but the one mag thing PO'z me. I want the whole shabang for the coin. I want mags, so I don't have to go back and get more at $35-45 each. I won't do it and the Chicoms can toss them in for me for the $1000 price. But since you mentioned it, throw in a case of .223 and we're on.

Or make mine a QBB-95, a crate of ammo, and lots of mags and a drum.

The "regular" military price from Norinco direct is $450USD. There is not much money to be made for a 800 price tag if they pay the "regular" price. However, if they can get cheap yellow box 223 norinco ammo ( PLA is not at WAR) to back up the rifles, there will be incentive to cut the $1000 line.

You would be very surprised at how expensive 223 from China is. In two years it has gone up 900% in cost.

If the price is right, I would buy one on top of the CZ I just bought.
They're two completely different guns.

The Type 97 is a poor mans black rifle, and it doesn't need to be pimped out like an AR-180b to make it cool. It's already a bullpup. Good enough for me.

Be glad you don't hear too much hype. The more noise here on CGN, the higher the price. I sense the 58 and the 305 will dominate the market for a long time. Everytime I get spare change I look for a 305, no luck though.

Actually it is a very sophisticated modern black rifle. And is their current military arm for millions of their troops (of course they get a different national service caliber, and select fire versions).

Also my sources say it is not a matter of Norinco not wanting to sell to us, it is a matter of no one has seriously asked them.

I dont want 5.8- the case is tappered and the chinese knows that it is not as accurate as 5.56. They trade it off for better feeding. The ammo is designed for steelcase and to outpenetrate SS109. There is also a sniper load with a heavy bullet. But seriously, who cares?? It only out penetrates the SS109 when it is used in a 21.5" barrel SAW. And of course, the ammo is corrosive.

THere is no hype about 5.8, other than the Chinese themselves think it is the best thing since sliced bread.
