School me, are they garbage or decent?! Got my rpal, I am more into hunting and bow but wouldn't mind a .22 or 9mm for the odd range day. Not looking to break the bank. What say the experts?

Have a norinco hp9 shotty with bout 3000 flawless rounds through it. Wondering if their handguns offer the same reliablty? Thanks.

i have a norinco 9mm 1911 and love the thing. put about 2500 rounds through it and she works flawless. I am thinking about getting one in a .45.. Trigger pull is a little heavy but that can always be tuned.. I would say go for it and get one, for the price you wont regret it.

I always regarded them as junk! However I find that I have purchased two of the 45's. Frame made of forged heavy duty steel and they seem robust. I was surprised that they are quite accurate as well and the price is right!

I love my .22lr M93 woodsman, I have shot a few other norinco pistols as well, .45 1911, 9mm 1911 (NP29), 9mm tokarev (NP17), 9mm hi power (NP18), 9mm sig P226 (NP22) all went "bang!" and were satisfying to shoot, I personally don't have any issues buying norinco.

I really like my 1911 in .45acp
My bro in law bought one and we took it to the range. It shot so well I bought one as well. I have had no problems with it at all.

I have the 9mm 1911, its a fun gun and has never let me down with the few hundred rounds I put though it so far, but its also not like my M&P9mm either, which seems a bit more accurate to me.

I had a Norc 22 rifle and didnt care for it at all, the fit and finish was junk, but I now also have a Norc M4 clone and love the damn thing, fit, finish, and functionality are great.

I think it is hit or miss, i have 3 - 213, 9mm tok copies and they all fire like crazy and have hundreds if not thousands of rounds thro em. I had a 1911 armco tuned norc and had nothing but trouble with it. The armco tune made it frustrating because when it did shoot it was so nice. I have shot other 1911 copies from norc and they seemed decent. Now the part I don't like about the norc products is how rough they are, if it draws blood simply loading the pistol then its likely a norc. Your not going to find a cheaper gun. Good entry level products that get you in to shooting, then you can upgrade.

Norinco's have come a long way, particularly the 1911's.
If I had to choose between my SAM, Spartan and Norinco, the Norinco would win, hands down.
Much better finish, it's blued, don't even know what the others have on them.
Spartan it tighter, trigger is better, accuracy about the same.
SAM is a good gun at $399 on sale, for the 40. Trigger not as good, but it is accurate.

Depends on the gun.

That about sums it up right there. Some of their guns are good, some are the total sh*ts. A lot depends on the gun the Chicoms are ripping off; the 1911 is an excellent design, so even Norinco has a hard time screwing it up. Some of the others, not so much. I find the more intricate the gun, the poorer the job the Chicoms do on it. Worst of all, their quality control is practically non-existent.

Basically, you pays your money and you take your chances.

Sounded like you were describing Para and NEA for a moment. ;)

lol, I kid, I kid.

Ya, depends on the gun. 1911s, vast majority of the M305/M14s, M93s, SKS......all decent guns (well, an SKS will always just be an SKS haha).
Better than an STI or Wilson Combat? Of course not.
Good value for the price (especially if you are just getting into shooting). Yes.

As a side note, Norinco doesn't rip anything off anymore than any other North American company. All the patents have expired on the guns they make, and in the case of the M14/M305, I believe they even bought most of the original tooling from the US once upon a time (I may have been misinformed on that though).

As long as you are reasonable in your expectations of anything cheap coming from China, you probably won't be too disappointed.

Norc pistols seem to be getting better, at least the 1911 anyway. I've got three from Can Am, great pistols, all nice and tight, all shoot great. Finish isn't as nice as some of the brand name ones, but definitely better than previous Norcs.

Each generation of guns they make get better. The latest copy of the sigs is nice, as are the 1911 copies. Their CZ clones are quite nice but rare and don't expect new ones anytime soon. The biggest problem with their rimfire rifles is the sights and the fact that nothing fits their dovetail cuts. Right now there is a special on at Wolverine for a 1911 in .40cal made by SAM. A very nice pistol, just got one myself.

I think if you are just a casual shooter/plinker they are okay if you can do without the finer things in life. My brother has their Siggish pistol and it operates well. Just doesn't hold a candle to the real one that I had the chance to shoot so far as slick operation and trigger feel goes.

But it goes bang and you can load a lot of ammo for that difference in price. He's not had it long enough to know about long term reliability, and I've no idea where parts will come from if it ever needs them.

Same deal with my M-305. Got it because I wanted a Garand, but have a norc budget. It goes bang, hasn't blown up on me, didn't require too much hitting with a hammer or fussing to tighten it up (so far), and seems to shoot with expected but not exceptional accuracy for the platform.

Am I planning to buy another Norc? Well, I would like a CZ75, but I'm going to save for a Shadow Line instead of being cheap. If I was looking for another 1911 (9mm) it'd be a toss up between a Norc deluxe or a SAM Omega.

"...It shot all over the place..." That can happen with any brand. Use to shoot with a guy who had a Smith 39 that nobody could shoot well.
"...for the odd range day..." Not much sense in spending a big pile of money for fun shooting. A Norinco will do as well as any low end pistol.

Sig, CZ copies in 9mm and a CF98 and all is good.
A pistol, some rubber hogue grips and crate of a thousand rounds for less than the price of a Sig or a CZ, what could be wrong?
