Norinco JW21 Lever action rifles

Trust me guys, these new ones are about 8 times better than the old ones from 4 + years ago. These new ones are in a different league. ;)

I took mine down (YES, its a takedown model, simple as pie, one screw on the side, then pull it apart. Cleaned it super easy, and took it out today. I have to say, this thing is a friggin TANK! Its made of all machined parts, and it cycled flawlessly with the 5 types of .22lr that I had sittin around. Jeezus. I love it. This is a nicely made rifle. (I put about 350 rounds through it)
I kinda cheated a bit, and put a 2.8-10x42 scope on it, and used my leadsled to get the smallest groups I could. I got a .68" five shot group at 50 yards. (winchester 555 ammo) and the next best groups rang in at about .9" or so with CCI minimag. There was no wind at all, and I was there by myself , so I had no distractions.
I have to say, this is way less finicky than the Browning BL22 I had a year or two ago. I cycled EVERYTHING I could feed it. Only thing I found that I didn't like was there was a bit of a "metal tinging noise" when I handled the gun, and I found it was the hammer transfer bar or even the firing pin? Whatever it is that the hammer hits directly, it had a bit of play and made a bit of metal on metal contact. No big deal, as the whole rifle is so solid, I really can't believe more people dont have these. I pretty much just bought this by accident, as I hadn't seen one before the minute I bought one. It was a complete impulse buy, and I am glad I did buy it. I might get another couple to give to my hunting buddies for their birthdays. Better shooter than the 9422 I had, and equal to the browning. Plus, I have never been able to get groups even close to this with the Marlin 39 that my Dad owns.
I like the open sights a lot, but I just wanted to check out the accuracy potential first, then I may just take off the scope and start the Ptarmigan slaughter!!!!!!!!

It has the grooves to mount the rings on top. Nice solid topped gun. Plus they heat treat the whole barrel, not just the chamber facing, so good luck wearing out one of these barrels.

Have never seen a Henry at that price point can you tell me where you found it.

Or... for 269.00 you can get a Henry .22 and it's MUCH higher quality. I love levers and own both.

Not being an arse, but if you can get a Henry for the same price.....

My thought is these Norincos should be closer to 169.00 to be a deal.

Just my opinion though....

Well, you can try Cabela's at 279.00.... It was 269.00 when I bought it out of the summer catalogue I think it was.

Or Wholesale Sports at 299.00

The prices are up a bit in the last 6 months since I ordered. But at these prices, I suspect they sell fast and will go higher. They always seem to be backorder items, and mine was when I ordered. Took 2 weeks from Cabelas.

Pay a bit more and get it in magnum or brass action. It has .22 dovetail on top, the wood is MUCH better than my Norinco, and it shoots better as well I have found. That's not taking away from the Norinco, as I find the Henry feels more solid, has better wood and handles better than the Browning at 300 bucks more as well.

And for you diananike.... It is a straight stock. Pay a bit more and get it in magnum or brass action.

I bought my Henry 5 years ago for that much(269), but it's a anodized aluminum reciever, these are blued steel.

By the way I love my Henry, really accurate and smooth as butter, but what can it it hurt trying out another sweet Lever .22?

I read that not only will they cycle shorts, but also CB and even empty shells, due to the nature of the mechanisms in the action. Haven't tried, but its a solid gun. AND IT IS ADULT SIZED, not a "youth" sized like the henry.

I don't want to sound like an ass but those pictures show that the gun looks quite crude in the construction.

I payed 330 for mine back in March at Wholesale.

I paid 199 for my Norinco, and no offence, but yours does look kinda like a POS. Mine looks fantastic, and is quite shiny. But all that doesn't mean anything to me, I just care how a gun shoots, and this is the best rimfire I've owned yet that wasn't a "dedicated" target gun.

I think if you expect a norinco to be anything but a little crude, you are setting yourself up for a let down. I have several and they are all crude but they work.

I totally expected nothing more than a "Utilitarian" gun , but I ended up with a really nicely made gun, that is rock solid, ultra accurate for a levergun, and I only paid 199. (it was one of three scratch-n-dent guns he has sittin around......a small , completely fixable split/crack at the bottom end of the shoulder stock. A spot of glue, and I can't find the crack anymore)
Anyhow, I know that this is more likely an exception than a rule when it comes to Norinco finishes, but they sure are getting a lot better than they were 10 years ago.
