Norinco M14 Blew Up

anyone who wants to read in depth about this "mysterious" receivr bridge issue should head down to the firing line m14 forum .com and read what Gus Fischer has to say in the "thoughts from Gus Fischer" forum.
he's a guy who has more years of m14 experience than probably anyone in canada..... he is a retired armourer and an authority on ALL things M14.

yes, there is a fix for faulty receiver bridges..... let me tell you, in my circles.... I've met only one faulty one.

it is accomplished with tig welder and a dremel of all things..... but that dremel and tig needs to be in the hands of somebody properly skilled to do the work. I know of no one in canada that performs this procedure...... yet :D
read Gus's info before you all start to panick hehehe

Thanks

thank you savage and 45acpking for pionting me in the right directing, a tig and a demel you say. sounds like thats right up my alley. but alass my nork, is virgin, just dont have the hart to break the cherry.

Yes they are probably all faulty, or very close to it.

I will dispose of all dangerous m305's and poorly machined, assembled or questionable guns and parts as a service to my fellow CGN's...

Instead of thorwing them away, you could throw them at me :)

This just goes to show you what a great M14 support group we have. Thanks for your efforts and advice now and in the future.

45ACPKING, Hungry, and Savage, I salute you!

You guys who are asking people to GIVE you their rifles ought to be ashamed for trying to play on peoples uncertainty and ignorance and fear.
All you people like me who aren't sure of your guns...read, read, and read more of the stickies here.

One thing that is NOT mentioned inthe stickies is to "full length" resize your cases when reloading. Untill I read it posted by someone in the Dogleg thread, I was all set to neck size only with my reloads.

Lol...if I have to explain my original post, it was written with humour intended, for those of you who didn't get it.

Yes there are reloading precautions to be taken. The loading information is here and in books and on the net for all to access.

Just read it and learn from those who know.

Now, for those of you are are still afraid to pull the trigger on your M305's, feel free to send them to me.

Hey guys, it ain't just Norinco. I wore bruises for six months from a receiver separation in a M14 that was US manufacture. I put this episode on this site, complete with pictures, and all I got was disbelief. Anyone want me to repost that episode ?

OK Folks, I will do that, but it will take a bit as I have to retake the pics of the M-14 as I deleted the whole damn episode when I got no sympathy. :) :)

How many times was the brass reloaded and what type of resizing technique was used case head separation and failure on the part of the rifle are not the same thing .

Whoa! The whole gritty story is still here, in this thread, on present page 3 date 03-05-2009. The pics were attached in a link to Photobucket.
