Norinco M4 CQ5.56 Reliability - You Decide

Aw crap. Just read the entire thread, and it looks like I'll have to bust out the credit card. Going to Newfoundland for 2 weeks in a couple days, guess I'll order it when I get back.

Thanks :) That looks pretty sweet!

Here you go -

Ignore the Armalite lower, it works just as well as the Norc lower (LOL)

Just put in my order yesterday with site sponsor Badger Arms Supply. Great to deal with and it was on sale for $699 - for all those who were excited for a thousand dollar AR, how about a $700 one. With the difference saved I also bought a bunch of LAR 10rd mags and couplers from them.

They still have some in stock and expect a new shipment in a few weeks.

Feed ramp problems

When I use soft tip .223 on the Norinco M4 I find that the feed ramp chews up the tip something awful. If I eject a chambered round I find almost half of the soft tip sheered off. That makes for some interesting ballistics.

Anyone have the same problem? Fixes?

That's because the rifle is not designed to fire softpoint ammunition (on a related note it's not designed to fire bullets lighter than 55 grain either) the solution is to switch to FMJ ammo 55 grains or heavier. With softpoints you will have the same issues with any AR (with lightweight 'varmint' rounds you'll have cycling issues) at any price.

Sorry if this was already answered. Do the new Norinco M4s still have the thin black paint that comes off on them? I am going to buy one anyway but curious.

ARs are very simple, if it is not dirty and its lubed but still have stoppages. then your gas rings are worn.
Easy way to test this, is feild strip your bolt assy and put the bolt into the bolt carrier. Hold the bolt head and let the carrier hang, If the wieght of the carrier pulls it off the bolt, then your gas ring are worn.

Interesting. Thanks.

So no "varmint grenade" bullets?....
