Norinco M4

Norc M4

Got mine today. From Lever Arms. $975 taxes and shipping paid. One hell of a deal (IMHO). Took about 1/2 an hour to clean it up. Can't complain about the finish, we'll see how it stands up to use. Heading to the range on Saturday. Range report to follow.

Here is a list of entry level M4 style rifles as of today;

Frontier Firearms
-S& W M&PM15 $1699.95
-Imp Defence MG4A5 $1699.95

Arms east
-Various Stag models $1460-$1850

P&D
-Bushmaster XM-15 $1550
-Remington R-15 $1250

Blue-Line
-BL-15LEI $1499

Average price to get into a brand new, complete, entry level North American made(except for the Imp Def.) M4 style in Canada today = $1536

Call the new Norc $900.......56% the cost of a Domestic M4.

Now, take into account the new Norc comes with goodies that are aftermarket for most rifles, such as a spare mag, ambi safety/mag release, as well as detachable carry handle........and you are getting approx $180 in extra value off the top.

I think these are a good price, with range reports to come in over the next 2-3 weeks we'll see if they perform. Now, as far as Marstar going to be cheaper......well, it is just a guess, but having seen what they have done before, it is a pretty good educated guess."

Something else that you get with the Norc that you would pay for or can't get from other suppliers is the F/A Bolt and Carrier, most entry level AR's do not come with these.

I read this in another thread:

"... the Imperial Defense. It's a Norinco CQ refinished by British labour that costs as much/more as/than a 'real' AR. "

Any truth to it?

This may be a stupid question but what is a F/A bolt and carrier
I know what the bolt and carrier is but always wondered what the "F/A" meant

Lever Arms provided us with a demo model and a bunch of ammo for the Port Coquitlam Sporting Rifle shoot earlier this evening.
We dumped a couple of hundred rounds of ammunition through it in pretty quick succession. I just dumped a heap of ammunition down and told the guys to help themselves. We just had people lined up hosing rounds downrange. It ran flawlessly with Fiocchi, PMC, steel cased Wolf, and whatever other stuff that the guys fed it.
It was stuffed with an assortment of magazine types consisting of the ones it came with, Aluminum USGI, Magpul PMags and LAR 10 round magazines. It didn't drop one of the black Magpul Pmags free initially, but loosened up after a bit of use. One of the LAR mags would not seat all that well on the closed bolt. This is not unusual for those types of magazines though.
Almost everybody who handled it commented on how the finish wasn't as bad as they were expecting it to be. The trigger was good and crisp. Ambidextrous selector was not really appreciated. This is not a hard part to swap off. I need to take a closer look at it, but I suspect that the irritating ambidextrous part of the latch can just be removed by unscrewing it.

I also tried a Sabre mag in it as well. One issue I noticed (and I am no AR expert) is that when I tapped the mag after insertion the bolt closed. Is this normal for AR's? I was expecting to have to hit the latch on the side.

M4 Range Report.

Went to the range today with my new M4.:D As you can see by the pics had to put a scope on it. Bushnell 4-16x, with red/green illuminated mil-dot reticle.:) After figuring out that the mount wasn't tight enough, then the accuracy improved.:bangHead: Fit and finish is not perfect, but for a rifle of this style and price it is more than acceptable. Accuracy as you can see by the pics is as good as one can expect for a service rifle. I am extremely happy:D with my new bang stick.

BRING ON THE ZOMBIES!!!!!:D
