Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

I was able to remove the creep.
The overtravel screw also make a good job.

Is it me or the striker spring is a little on the weak side ?
I dry fired ( with snap caps ) the rifle a couple of times to adjust the trigger and it seems to me that the striker spring is weak.
I put a +10% spring in my CZ 452 and even with the old factory spring, i feel that the NS522 spring is way less strong than my CZ.

I saw somewhere that a consistent strike is very important for accuraccy, especially with rimfire ammo.
That's why people swap the spring in their CZ...

Took mine out for some ammo testing. I'm pleased as punch. Glad I got mine when I did because Canada ammo is now out of stock two days after mine landed on my step! Stock in mine is ding-less as is the rest of the gun. Bolt cycles buttery smooth without anything done to it apart from cleaning all the cosmolin oUT of the gun.

Mines wearing a Chinese bipod and Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 and some 10$ crappy tire rings!

Shooting conditions this morning: -1 to 5, 20kmh winds laying prone with my hand for a rear rest. Ideal.

5 shot groups at 50 yards. I'm no marksman by any means and this wasnt exactly scientific so take my results wirth a grain of salt. That being said this puppy can shoot. Only noticed afterwards that I hadn't tightened the rings up enough and when I was done the front ring had almost fallen off the dovetail... and it was still making respectable groups!

Ammo used: Eley match, cci standard, federal champion, dynapoints, Aguila standard, remington yellow jackets.

I don't see pics...

Just to back things up to the 'newb' level for a minute...
I bought mine almost a year ago when it was on sale. Finally got a chance to shoot it yesterday.
Holy flickin' shnit! What a little tack driver.
Cheap Bushnell scope at 8X and Federal Champion ammo, shooting off a random wooden rest.
Once it was zeroed, that cheap little bugger was 1/2" at 100m! (I'm not that good a shot! Before yesterday, I haven't had a chance to pull a trigger in 6 months.)
It was stiff, scratchy and amazingly accurate. I never even opened the gun cases on my other shooters!
I can't wait til my wife shoots it.
*No, I most certainly don't have pics to prove it. It never even occurred to me that it would shoot that well.

Yesterday, I made another attempt for the single shot adapter... Failed again !
The radius is too deep but the angle should be fine.
You can see on the pics the 1st and second attempt...
Tonight, I will make another one, hopefully its gonna be *the one*.

I also modified the trigger guard...

The adapter i made yesterday still have a couple of burrs and its still *rough*.

I made a third attempt for the single shot adapter.

This time its not enough deep. I will have ti cut it down a little bit next week...

Complete reblued trigger guard.

Williams FP-AG peep sights have target knobs with click adjustments. It's a dovetail clamp and can be had for around 80$ US. A front globe sight is where you'll need to do something crafty. I'd suggest a barrel clamp and some sort of globe sight to sit on the clamp. To my knowledge there isn't a set up that you could buy that is ready to attach to your rig. You could have a gunsmith drill and tap the muzzle or have a dovetail cut.... but I wouldn't.

Pillar'd with lamp rod and free floated. My brother got me the Miles Gilbert bedrock kit for Christmas, kit worked great. Polished up the trigger components, still using the stock spring. All that work brought my average group size at 50 yards from .87" to .69". I think the bottleneck for accuracy now is the trigger. Next step will be adding set screws for sear engagement and over travel.

Pretty pleased with the results. Shot my tightest group on the bottom right of that page. Fun project. Also my brother got me a hat due to my current collection of china rifles. Thought you'd all appreciate this.

Have mine pretty much done, incorporated most of the mods found in this great thread and gave it a stock job. First I wanted to leave it natural wood but after stripping the factory paint off I found beetle channels (no kidding) on the wood surface.

I switched back to the factory trigger spring because last time out at the range it fired a round when closing the bolt. Trigger is still good though.
