Norma TAC-22 High-Performance on sale at Cabelas

I bought 2 bricks of this ammo from Cabelas. One box I was sent was the black box you described with the 1100fps, One box was the red box with the 1083fps listed. Looks like Cabelas is shipping the ammo in both packaging.

This explains a lot about how garbage Cabelas is...

Tried the TAC22 through my Cooper JSR.

"RBAGEGA" . . . it is so bad I could not even spell garbage!

Went back to the old standby, Eley Match Biathlon and put five shots inside one inch at 100 yards.

Oh Well . . . it will serve as break in ammo for a new 1712.

You are comparing eley match biathlon with this Norma tac? No wonder you were disappointed

Black box Tac-22 didn't perform in my rifles. Then again neither has any of the lower cost RWS who I believe make Norma.
I'm guessing red box is similar to RWS Club Master based on cost and speed.

I have both, red (cost about 14 cents per round) and this black ( cost about 13 cents per round), they perform similar on my cz457

That lays the problem. When you are used to high quality and just pure match ammo. Anything else will be disappointing, so hardly a fair comparison.

My thought was it might be passable to starting a new shooter.
Had they stayed within the scoring rings it would have been acceptable.
Using a rifle of known reliability it would appear to be a good starting point.
Point is . . . it's not!
Using the Eley Biathlon showed it was not the scope.
Looks like it will serve to break in the 1712. 300 Rounds for almost the same as CCI SV.

In my rifles it was outperformed by CCI SV, just like RWS is.

I should try both at 100m though since it's possible the RWS/Norma holds a better vertical group and that's where most of the misses are for the games I play.

I got 1 of the 2 bricks I ordered. Packaging was way better than when I got my Wrangler from them. The box was intact, nothing broken opened etc.

I got mine dead dropped today. It's in 2 500 bricks and its all black box with the R crown stamp. Who knows when I'll get a chance to test it.

Got back from the range testing one box. Federal Auto Match, Tac 22 ( 1100 FPS Black box ) and Eley Sport

Using an Anschutz 64 Silhouette Benched with a Caldwell Deluxe front rest and a rear bag.

The price is back up at Cabela's Abbotsford and they have a few boxes of red box.
Overall, their rimfire selection would be like trying to suck an egg through a garden hose.

During break in procedure on December 8th, the TAC22 and CCI SV were about the same . . . under 2" at 100 yards.
Testing some match ammo after getting up to about 200 rounds . . . R50, Eley Match Biathlon and Remington Eley Match.
Five rounds wold run under 1", and ten would exceed 1".

The rifle is an Anschutz 1712 with a 6-24 Bushnell . . . but I am at the end of my elevation

The kicker came with some REM with a velocity of 1067 . . . you subtract what ever you think is fair but .22 still puts it under a 1/2".

On sale again with free shipping. As a recap on my previous experience. I shot the rest of the box with zero issues, though my same old rifle. Guessing my daughter and I got the shells wet maybe? Anyway, it is very accurate in my old Husky, so I bought another 20 boxes this morning. Should keep me going for a bit.

Again, comparing it to something 2-3x the price is a bit unfair.

Unfair to who?

Only accurate rifles are interesting!

As to price . . . just because Diesel is more expensive than regular now in BC I would not be using it in my car or truck expecting better results.

Buying ammo because it is a loss leader still does not make it a better deal.
The regular price for Norma is $11 - $13 per box. Add the tax and I have been getting Remington Eley Match delivered for $165 per brick.

There is a saying . . . cheaper oats can be had but they have been hough the horse once!

Diesel or gasoline price has nothing to do with performance. Just because diesel is more expensive now than gas doesn't mean it performs better.
(remember diesel had been cheaper than gas for decades prior to 2008?)

My point is your analogy is flawed. Gas/diesel price is not tied to their performance. But ammo's price usually is.

By the way, Norma's regular price has never been 11-13$ per box. Some places are selling for that prices and people are buying it because they are ill-informed.
Norma tac-22 either red or black box is fairly priced around 6-8$, not more than that.
