Nostalgic Hunting Pictures

These have to be fakes. None of these guys are wearing camouflage or face paint. I don't think ANY of their clothing is made from high tech Under-Armour stuff and they haven't reached the 1:1 80,000 dollar crew-cab pick-up truck per hunter ratio at ALL.

:D

Seriously, though, I love old pictures like this. I especially love showing them to all my suburban commando friends, when they're coming back from buying another 1000 dollars worth of camo man panties from Sail...

This is in either 402 or 305, most likely 305, the 2 ton's for hauling the horses. The gentleman with the elk was the patriarch of generational family friends. True sportsman and a real nice guy. My maternal grandfather is somewhere in the first pic, or more likely taking it as it ended up in my hands.

Here are a few of my great grandfather and his crew taken in the around 1915 + or -. They took a train from London Ont up to the French River, where they took a steam boat then a row boat into there hunting grounds. The picture is of his 1917 unfilled hunting liscence that my father is still in posession of.

Here are some of my Grandpa who passed away about a year and a half ago

These ones are from Campbell River, B.C. taken in 1945

Some of him Pheasant hunting in 1937 when he was about 15 or 16

Taken around 1961-62. A time out from a black powder snowshoe hare hunt. My friend Charlie (on the right) is carving a new ramrod. He wrecked his old , original steel ramrod by shooting it up into the air. When it came down onto the ice - turned into a pretzel!

Anyone remember "Zing"?

Amazing sets of photos in this thread.

I see now the tradition of posing for a photo near the hanging deer has been around for longer than Camo and Scopes... its a traditional thing.

Thanks for contributing these old photos, not something everyone has sitting around!

Cheers

WL

Here's my old Dad on the right. Taken circa 1916 or so. The dog looks like he is proud of the boys. The fellow on the left is one of Dad's older brothers, but I can't tell which one. Obviously, Dad had the most pull, as he is wielding the double.
