Now that we have time to process, any purchase regrets as far as money spent?

Not sure if regret is the right word, but does shoulda count:p as in I shoulda gotten a Coonan and a Pardini GT9. Maybe just maybe Messiah Poilievre can pull a rabbit out of his ass with a major and everything will be right as rain….maybe:p

I hadn't thought about it, John, but now that you mention it, I 'shoulda' on the Pardini too. Nice to have a few classic, target-oriented 9mms that are effortlessly accurate, low recoiling and very durable. The Pardini and a few others like the X5, fits that bill for sure. I did squeak in a Coonan though ;-)

I never got the 1911 I wanted. And probably bought 2 extra glocks I didn't need. I stuck to not paying way over on anything and managed to walk away alright.

Seems like i got unobtainium when I grabbed a G40 10MM MOS last minute.

I added 14 more to my collection. Not sure if I regret anything yet. If they reverse the law, then maybe I'll have some regrets, but if they don't, then I'm happy I got what I got.

I added 7 or 8 to the fleet. I don't regret buying any of them but if the transfer freeze is ever lifted, I will sell a 2 or 3 of them. Of the new additions, I have yet to put a single round through any of them. LOL. Managed to get a very nice Colt 1911 and a spare Buckmark. I regret not buying a 6 inch Colt Python, a Ruger Mark IV Hunter and a World War 1 era 1911. A 44 mag double action would have been nice aswell but I will have to settle for my 9mm wheel gun. I definitely am glad I picked up a Stainless Desert Eagle in 50AE and a Model 41 a few years ago as those were on the top of my "must have and will sell my left leg for" guns. I have enough to scratch any itch I will have for the rest of my days should the transfer freeze never get reversed.

If there is a regret it's money not spent. In mid-October I was in a Northern Ontario gun store and noticed a couple of appealing items. I already had a pistol with the CFO from August and expected a six month wait so I passed on anything new because of how long I'd have to wait. Now that the six months have passed I'm regretting not making the purchases.

Same here The more time that passes, the more I regret not upping my budget "just a little bit more". It's interesting to me that all the items on the "wish I had bought" list are all steel and 50+ years old.

A nighthawk vice president was a bit of a splurge in hindsight. Not a regret per se but ideally when spending that kind of money you’d like to have it customized for your exact needs. No optics cut or light rail on mine for instance.

Having said that I’m hoping we will be happy companions for years to come and it doesn’t really count as a regret.

It’s not a gun I could afford to be screwed over by the government with a $1,000 buyback offer though…

I have concerns about lots of high value firearms in the event of a forced buyback and in most cases it has prevented me taking the plunge. None of us want this but let’s be honest, our cities are only growing larger, more panicked and having a bigger say in how Canada is run.

For example, I wouldn’t want to be a guy sitting on a WW2 1911 .455 Webley collection right now that are supposedly 2-3x the value of GI .45acp examples.

I traded my polymer Jericho for a Winchester 100 at the 11th hour and I still don't know what I was thinking, I'd take that one back if I could only undo one stupid trade. I bought a S&W k frame from someone that I *knew* didn't know what they had and ended up with a war time 38 S&W reamed to 38 special that I don't really trust instead of just spending the few extra hundred on a K38 Masterpiece like I really wanted. Hmm'd and Haw'd on a Glock 17 Gen 1 to replace the poly Jericho because the guy selling it wouldn't come down on his price an inch, now my collection will have a polymer 9mm hole for the rest of time and what should have been a fine Smith and Wesson in my collection is now a sketchy piece of junk. :(

Lessons learned, unfortunately.

Just pay the extra few dollars if you know what you want.

I did get an Olympia from Marstar for $199 because I couldn't get my hands on a G44...and I really think I lucked out on that one though. The Olympia is awesome.

The 38 S&W is a larger diameter (and shorter and lower pressure) than the 38 special. Get it checked out and measured before trying anything in it. Highly unlikely it was adapted for 38 special. I'd avoid 38 special in it altogether.

Only bought one pistol that I really wanted and even that, if the price was not right, I would pass with no remorse.
